Not everyone in the military is ready to be Trump’s storm troopers. Civil wars do not work that way. There will be sides and infighting all over the place and many people would die unfortunately. Read about our first Civl War if the subject interests you.

The us army has a wonderful track record with occupation (what you are talking about is going to be even worse for them). They could not beat Iraq or Afghanistan and there they were able to pretend they are not really human, in the states? Ehhhh I would be shocked if the us army could even fight the us people. They are not winning that fight, sad that americans think like the army could.

If it comes down to Civil War, the military will be wildly fractured, and regional. Most of your daily danger will come from gangs of local marauders who will fancy themselves as militias. Those people can be handled with a bit of smarts and intelligence.

Remember, MAGA always thinks they will win in one big punch. They never have a plan for the next steps, responses, consequences, etc., they never have a Plan B, and they ALWAYS think their opponent is Stupid, and will never anticipate their grade school playground plan. Use their virtuosic incompetence against them.

            Yes.

But my guess would be that almost every country, especially the US, is far to big to be governed by force. Spreading supply lines across a potentially hostile area of that size would be a nearly impossible task on its own… protecting all the industrial assets and natural ressources would be another.

An armed populace isn’t about fighting the military in some grand battle. It’s about making every random person a potential threat. When every citizen has a chance of being armed, leaders should lead in a way that doesn’t piss off too many of them.

It’s called insurgency. A good example of what would occur is what happened in Iraq. Iraq is a very high gun ownership rate country and what happened after the 2003 invasion is what would happen in the USA if a civil war happened here. I apologize for using the word ‘happen’ too much lol.

Yes, but it’s more than that. The idea of an armed populace is supposed to be that the threat posed by the armed citizens precents the need for insurgencies in the first place. But in the US it isn’t working because Democratic voters disarmed themselves while Republican voters armed themselves to the teeth.

One day Trump will be gone, but the millions of fascists he empowered will still be spreading their poison, committing acts of terrorism, and doing everything in their power to destroy secular democracy and equality wherever they can.

This is a cancer we will need to eliminate using only methods our current constitution doesn’t allow. America needs a world class denazification. These monsters need to feel existential dread for ever externalizing their fascism, as a matter of law. Peace, prosperity and a civil society simply cannot exist with these people in it and free.

I mean basically this, entirely unironically.

      We couldn’t unracist the South.

So, we just have a happy little national divorce, and petition to join Canada, and then also the EU.

Or, form Super-Cascadia, New New England, and The Peoples Republic of Midwestistan.

Texas can annex Oklahoma, everything touching Utah becomes Greater Mormozonia Deseret and the rest can be the Confederacy 2.0.

(Sorry non included red mountain west / central states, you’re destined to be failed states due to climate change and depopulation, so you don’t get a name… ok, fine: Unorganized Territories)

Then the Chinese do a CIA and send tons of QBZ 192s and such to the 100% guaranteed resistance movements that’ll spring up in Jesusland, and maybe if we’re lucky, by 2150, we’ll have a saying that goes something like “America, once divided must unite; America, once united, must separate.”

Also, get to know your neighbors. Most people are decent, and a semi-organized group willing to stand up for each other is a hell of a lot harder to oppress.

Also, I’d suggest reading “that nonviolent stuff will get you killed.” It’s about the role firearms played in the civil rights struggle. Super interesting read.

Whether you consider this fortunate or unfortunate is up to you, but I don’t think this is likely. Not because MAGA won’t go that far, but because nobody in a position to organize a popular mass response (armed or unarmed) to a MAGA overthrow of democracy would actually do it. The right will enthusiastically support it, the center will be kinda mad but just fall in line and the left will be caught with its pants down because nobody is out there building the organizational infrastructure for such a thing.

I’m glad someone gets it. It won’t be ‘civil war’ it will be ‘civil unrest’ with any true attempts to organize or enact violence quickly being neutralized by the complicit surveillance state. It doesn’t matter what the majority believe or want. It matters what you can enact in defense of your principles and your right to exist. This is how the fascist mind works. If they can’t be stopped then they won’t stop.

Frankly, it’s already too late. We already know how this works because we’ve seen it. In Russia, Hong Kong, Tiananmen Square, Iran, and a smattering of other places. It won’t be civil war. You need a military force for civil war. a cohesive engine with infrastructure and capital and weaponry. It will be protests and varying degree of ‘riots’ with maybe a peppering individual actors carrying out actual terrorist violence. None of that amounts to a civil war. At best you’re talking about a handful of dumb kids that got guns and went to a protest and then got everyone at the protest killed when they tried to defend themselves.

Hell, the war for independence was more or less a civil war but it only succeeded because the French came in and whipped the colonies into an actual fighting force. There is no equivalent outside force today that is going to come in and train the American populace, and even if there were you would be talking about some funding of terrorist cells kinda CIA style. The only place that could even remotely, (and I mean a snowflakes chance in hell) work is in the less populated middle of the country but there’s no force out there that agrees with left wing ideology and there’s no way to get supplies to them.

I’m sorry folks. I wish it weren’t so, but the moral high ground is useless if you can’t defend it.

Wipe your digital footprint, learn to obfuscate yourself and stfu until you can figure out how to leave if you’re a vulnerable demographic because shit’s going to hit the fan hard and you might find yourself dying in an ‘accidental’ prison fire or something the next time you go to a big protest and get arrested.

I more or less agres, but I wanna note that I’m a bit more optimistic than you in that I don’t think it’s quite too late. In principle Americans could start now and build the infrastructure for a successful popular revolt (though that infrastructure would be much better used preemptively to prevent the need for popular revolt); they just won’t because they still believe the fascists will let themselves be voted out of power. The bad ending is still preventable but it won’t be prevented.

I’ve bought 6 guns in the past month. Im looking for more. Took my kids and girl out shooting last weekend, taught the kids how to load and fire the 22. Let my girl go from loading the magazines and firing the 9 and 40 pistols. Let her pick which she liked best for home. Next weekend I’ll have the 9 carbine, 40 carbine and shotgun out for her to fire and I have a better target system for the kids to work with. If it keeps then safe from assholes, I’m for it.

What state is that? I’m in Illinois and it’s pretty bad here, hard to imagine worse.

Needles to say, I’ve got my firearm owner ID (thanks IL), my conceal carry, and handful of awareness/defense/tactics style classes under my belt to be prepared for just about any scenario (hopefully)

        1. FOID = $5 (technically all you need for step 4)

        2. CCL = $150+ 16-hour class + $150 license good for 5 years

        3. CCL insurance = $10+/month through USCCA, NRA, US Law Shield, or other (typically offers $1m+ for 2A defense attorney fees for criminal court and I believe ditto for civil court too)

        4. Now you can make your firearm purchase… minus 170+ banned firearms due to loading mechanisms, attachments, magazine capacities, firing method, etc.

        Thanks Prickster I mean Pritzker
