the whole allure of EVs ( for me at least) is how versatile they are at charging. You can charge publicly or at home, through solar, i for example charged at a remote monastery at the top of a mountain since they had solar panels and i used an outlet.
This versatility disappears when you need to use these very expensive battery swapping stations.
As a Romanian, Dacia always had a “poor person stigma” attached but i have to admit lately that’s all but gone. I would love to own one of these Dusters as they look amazing, just a shame there’s no EV variant as that’s becoming a massive part of EU sales.
i cannot wait until it’s EU wide. It makes traveling across countries a horrible experience, Tesla became my only choice due to their network, i never want to install another ev charging app again
In europe fuel is much much more expensive so EVs are usually much cheaper. In my case they’re over 10x cheaper, it’s not even close. But if i lived in the US with those gas prices i’m not sure i’d have gone EV
not surprizing it cost more than ICE equivalent, that consumption is massive. 38.8kw/100km is more than 2x what i normally get in my Y for example. I realize it’s a bigger car with shed like aerodynamics but still, high consumption
The ID3 is massive. People call it a hatchback due to it’s shape but it’s 6.1 cm taller than a Golf. It’s closer to a Tiguan than to a Golf.
The comment i was making wasn’t aimed at SUV vs Hatch but more to show how overpriced the ID3 is. The TIguan is 11,000 euros LESS than a ID3. Passat is 12,000 euros Less than ID3 and the Arteon is 12,200 eur less than the ID3. It’s truly bonkers
it has been fine for the past 25 years. Some people are stuck in the distant past when it comes to RWD vehicles.
( Mustang is excluded, that thing will actively spin out and try to kill you no matter the weather )
the nasty part is that the service department has targets too, not just sales. Meaning that if they need to hit their target they will 100% scam a few people at least
in europe it absolutely is. EVs are only accelerating and even poor countries are over 30% new car share.
well yes, makes sense. A VW ID3 starts at 42,000 eur, this is meant to be the EV Golf but it costs as much as an SUV ( or more )
This technology exists BECAUSE people are terrible drivers and they routinely speed and kill others. If this was not the issue, EU wouldn’t be mandating these new techs on every new car. And in a few years it won’t be a chime but it’ll actively limit the car wether you want to or not
i highly doubt TUV is not biased towards German brands. There were other cars that did worse like the X5 and X6 but they’re not even mentioned in the article
wow what a hit piece. How did they forget to mention that the BMW X1, X5 and X6 did even worse? ( among other cars )
the launch edition ID3 only had speakers in the front, none in the back. This is a 40,000+ eur vehicle and it was the special edition launch model.
i’m 100% confident it will not catch on. It works in a few select countries in urban environments but it’s a non starter due to the very expensive battery stations needed.
