Great win but our attacking play really needs some work. It was the same Martinelli to Zinchenko or Saka just spamming crosses into the back post. I get that we won but it feels too predictable.
Why are players so afraid to shoot? Why are players not making runs to create space? Attacking requires a degree of risk, are we instructing players to not take risks?

It’s sad and that but Ramsdale put us in serious trouble against weak opposition, far too many times. Add on the fact he cant stay focused for 90, its easy to see why Arteta has frozen him out.
I’m still shocked at how Havertz missed that header. It’s like the chance he had vs Man U, easier to score than miss.
I get that he’s low on confidence, but those chances are the ones you need to bury if you want your confidence back.
As long as he is an Arsenal player, I back him to succeed here but even now I’m still struggling to see why the recruitment team were willing to pay £65M for Havertz. What did they see in his 3 mediocre years at Chelsea to justify that amount of money?
Really disappointing game. We offered next to nothing going forward. In a way I’m glad because WHU have drawn Liverpool away, which is a high chance of a loss.
We cannot put in a performance like that at SJP. With their injuries, I’m confident we can lay down a big marker in this title race.
Just some thoughts on yesterday’s game:
- Eddie was fantastic. I want to see him shoot more like he did for that 3rd goal.
- The team coped well without Ode and Gabriel.
- I’m really happy that Vieira and ESR got time. Once ESR starts rolling, his ability to make runs and quick pass/move action, will create so many opportunities for us.
- Surprised to see Saka get the armband but I’m happy to see him take on the responsibility.
It’s not the its undeserved, but it highlights a lack of chance creation from open play. Kinda says we’re trying to rely more on set pieces.
Stagnation. Falling out of the champions league. Failure to move on players who were doing bad and consistent poor mentality in the squad.
Some thoughts on the game:
- Raya looked far too shaky. Playing way too many hospital passes. We could have easily been 3-0 down.
- What does ESR need to do get more game time? He looked decent when he came on.
- Chelsea came at us with a lot more intent. I could tell within the first 5 minutes that they would score first.
- Our play style was poor. I was seeing too much of the “doughnut of shame” yesterday. Our players looked lost in the final 3rd.
- Our performances are just not good enough. We sacrificed the fluid attack of last season for more control, but we’re still looking a bit shaky.
Kinda worried for Sevilla away. They’re a team with strong European history. It will be a tough going there and winning.
It’s not only about his finishing. Toney offers physicality up front that no one else in our squad currently does. He’s also a good outlet for aerial crosses, so it adds another dimension to our attack as we’d be able to make effective use for low and high crosses.
I’d argue they weren’t that good. I seen too many flying over players and going out.
