On my i4 M50 it’s about a 15% gain. Totally worth it on road trips. Around town I don’t care cause electricity here costs $0.065/kWh, so Sport mode all day.
I don’t know how you like the suspension in the Grand Highlander. My sister in law has one and it bounces so much it makes me motion sick. I can’t wait to get back in my car every time I’m riding in that thing.
No, it is not like using a 5 year old phone at all. Phones do not have active thermal management, the battery on a 5 year old EV is more like the battery on a 6 month old phone. It takes 10 years for the battery to degrade as much % as a 2 year old phone.
If it’s about electronics and software, then every new car (EV, gas, or diesel) is going to have the exact same issue.
It baffles me they didn’t make it a liftback like BMW did with the i4. The liftback is just a more useful design.
The sun just came out and my auto climate control system adjusted for it appropriately without my input. It stays at 21C regardless.

I’m not sure why they don’t use 6 cyl. The fuel economy on this engine is going to suck compared to a turbo 6 cyl. And it’s going to have worse low end torque too.
In any case, whether you’re driving an ICE car or EV, you should be leaving the AC on auto. The air conditioning compressor will dehumidify the air, reducing fogging up in the winter. Even when it’s -40 degrees out.
