People Who Drive on Eco Pro Mode, How Much Savings Do You See?

Been using it lately and notice the car gets significantly slower which sucks but wondering if people who have used it long term see considerable savings.

its great when you are almost out of gas, use eco pro and drive stream behind a lorry, it forces you to go slow on the accelerator

it might give you that extra mile, it would also be good for a new driver maybe because of the slow gas response

its not a magical solution to save energy without compromise, its a setting that will pinch out those extra miles in case thats what you want/need

For the average driver, an extra 10-15 mpg with Eco Pro is reasonable. It makes the car a bit less fun but more efficient. Savings add up over thousands of miles, especially at today’s fuel prices. Give it a solid test over a few tanks and see what numbers you get. Just know the performance hit comes with the territory.

I did a 6 hour round trip this thanksgiving. On the way there my m240i was in comfort mode and on the way back back it was in eco mode. I got 35mpg in comfort and 37mpg in eco.

Not worth it, tried it once on a 300 mile trip, set cruise in ECO PRO, gained like 10 miles. Have not used since.

I slip into eco by habit when in traffic or when I am cruising. It really goes hand in hand with start/stop where the greater efficiencies are…I drop it into sport/sport+ when I need to take off and get going.

Such technologies are gas reduction strategies and not gas replacement and the savings are only realized as gas prices get higher. Why burn fuel when not needed?

Rant…when one tire is 1 psi below standard, eco mode is not an option. Really?

I too get onto the road with sport and then once I’m on the highway it’s eco & drivers assistance all the way.

        Plastic Couch Cover

It’s unclear how much wear and tear there are on the bearings, but I don’t buy and use cars to just save it for the next owner. It’s akin to putting a plastic cover on a couch; it works but I don’t do it.

Could lead to problems for you. I like to enjoy my cars too and I push them hard but I’m not going to accelerate wear on them in the name of saving a few bucks of gas.

learning how to slide into neutral coasting is where all the gas savings are

With the car in neutral, it has to use fuel to keep the engine going.

If you’re coasting/engine braking the car goes into fuel cut.

Yes but overall you’ll use less fuel with the engine idling in neutral than with the engine braking in fuel cut mode. This is because you’ll travel much further in neutral than when you engine brake.

At 70 mph on the highway (sometimes more) , a theoretical 600 mile range. Now granted this, I’ve never tried this in Comfort or Sport but still. Not bad for 3.0 I6 turbo and a big 4 door sedan.

It was a 14 gallon tank, but I would fill up at a little less than a quarter tank as I heard it was better for the HPFP to not let it run too low.

I also did a fair bit of city driving and encountered a good share of traffic. Best I ever got was 26mpg, and the worst was 16, both going off the computer.

How big is that tank? I have a 328d with a 15 gallon tank and right now an at an average of 37mpg and I average about 550 miles per tank. If I only commute and go 70i would easily get 650. And I know no gasoline BMWs are getting 37mpg lol. I’m guessing 20-21Gal(75.7-79.5L)?

Huge difference! In sport+ my M2 gets between 16-18. In eco I get 21!! I know that sounds really bad even in eco. Which it is. But it’s 25% better!

It’s like murdering puppies vs just killing a few dogs as far as the environment is concerned.

With eco pro I managed about 52mpg on a trip of roughly 550km that i do regularly. Withou eco pro it is around 35-42mpg. Within a whole tank i see up to 90 km range gain with eco pro. Car is a 2018 F34 325D

I don’t drive on eco pro, but I once tried to get as many miles as possible on comfort compared to driving it normally in sport plus, the difference was about 50 miles on the tank. Got 500 instead of 450ish.

Reset mileage for driving 2 hours for Thanksgiving. Usually drive DSC off on ethanol (e50) when I drive the car. Average about 15 mpg, and 180-200 miles a tank. Drove in eco pro on 93 for 2 hours on the highway, got out eco once to do a small pull them back to eco. Got 300 mile range according to the computer, and 25 mpg average.

Only ever use eco on longer drives which is rare. Just felt like taking the 240i out this time
