What sense does it make for VAR to make Paul Tierney go to the monitor over a play he had a clear view of? It wasn’t a hidden handball or a foul behind the play. He saw it, didn’t make the call, but is forced to watch it in slow motion until he awards a pk. Done with the premier league until they get rid of VAR for everything but offsides.

Someone needs to create an app/database to gather ALL important match decisions and extract the data over a longer period of time so that the inconsistencies can no longer be denied.

I would like a full and complete revamp of the premier league.

Also; Antony should be red carded there for the foul + 2 reds for hitting motion. Why the fuck he got only a yellow?

There was a Liverpool fan who did this because he suspected the bias and went through all opta data. Wish I had a link but it does exist and it does show biases in various ways

I really don’t get how fans remain quite while VAR is killing the game

We have fake goals like this while Juventus had to score 3 goals for a 1-0 win as two were ruled out by ridiculous reasons

This is tragedy for attacking football

You think he was able to fully focus on every interaction happening in the box at the same time?

We as fans need a way to call for an investigation into PGMOL. Never going to happen imo tho.

It’s bullshit they are interfering too much. Was that a penalty today maybe? Maybe not but absolutely not a clear and obvious or a scandalous decision if not given. But once again VAR are reffing games they don’t need to check everything let the on field ref decide and only interfere if anything obvious or the on field ref wants a second opinion. Probably doesn’t affect admittedly but still would rather feel aggrieved by on field decision rather than VAR (if that makes sense)

This call made me stop watching the game, totally ruining football this blatant incompetence or most likely corruption, Arsenal fan here. Does rodri have to pull out a gun and shoot someone before getting a foul or a stern talking to? It’s ridiculous.

I see your point. It’s VAR ‘re-refereeing’ the game like when Martinelli’s goal at Old Trafford was disallowed for the ‘foul’ on Eriksen

No sense. Add the fact that this happens multiple times every game and that the var person usually doesn’t have the time to check these non-incidents because the ball has been recycled sooner…

The Officiating and TMO at the RWC has been heavily criticised and more generally over the last few years. I’m not sure it’s the best example to use right now, albeit there are elements which could and should be incorporated in the short term.

I’ve said it before. Because VAR is easy to manipulate. Yesterday Sterling was literally shoved in the back. Var said no pen. But this was given as a pen when he wasn’t even near the ball. Brace for apology. City woulda still wiped United. But it makes it a talking point

This isn’t a VAR issue, it’s a clear conflict of interests issue. The VAR official, Michael Oliver, is literally taking money from City’s owners to ref matches in UAE. Any decision that harms City will harm his own chances of earning 20 grand per game in UAE.

Scrap VAR and you’ll still have this happening, only it’ll be less obvious because referees can hide behind an excuse of ‘not seeing’ things.

Your not done with the league unless they change the VAR mid season. Your hardly gonna stop watching from today on.

I was the same and could understand teething issues. But we are into it’s 5th season and nothing has changed because the people in control don’t want it to.

It would be better in the hands of a private company who can be held accountable
