10 months agoYour survey question for how much people spend on fuel/electricity per month tops out at $60 which is a little low, especially for people who drive a lot and live in a state with high fuel prices like California.

- Rivian converted the old Mitsubishi factory in Normal IL to EV production
- Lordstown tried to start EV production in the shuttered GM Lordstown factory before running out of money
This seems to be just codifying Carb standards but I thought the 2027 interim target of 42% of sales was interesting.

However, I really don’t like Musk. I’m sure the other auto maker owners/ heads are deuche bags as well but at least they aren’t vocal about it.
As a Tesla owner I absolutely agree. I really like my cars but at this point Tesla would be better off with someone else as full time CEO.

I don’t think he was including standard HEV. Including those the EU is almost at 50% right now.
I haven’t had any problems with vandalism in over 10 years of driving an EV. At least Teslas have sentry mode.
If you want something cheap, low-key and inexpensive there is the Leaf, but I can’t recommend it as Chademo charging is obsolete.
I think that the F150 ends up doing better in the edmunds test despite charging at lower kW because the area under its charge curve is similar to Rivian:

And it is more efficient on a miles per kW basis at 48 kWh/100 mi vs the R1T at 52 kWh/100 mi. But Rivian recently released their dual motor design which is now the most efficient truck & large SUV at 43 kWh/100 mi. Edmunds just tested the older 4 motor vehicle.

Last year I was amazed me how much money was spent to advertise vehicles which could not be purchased, not currently in production and not in mass production for years.
Perhaps those ads were create more to boost the tech credentials of the companies and stock prices than to drive sales.
This year I expect more traditional advertisements which feature cars available now on dealer lots.

level 2 30A is 5.76kW max. I think that Tesla may be using the heat pump AC unit to cool the battery as well as the cabin so when cooling the cabin at full blast the battery may not be getting cooled down enough.
The Ramcharger is using Chryslers 3.6L Pentastar engine which is 292hp or 217kW. I think it will have plenty of power as it is basically a full size truck engine and is already being used in Ram pickups. Of course the drawback with using a full size pickup motor is that the engine is fairly heavier and fuel efficiency in generation mode will be around 20mpg.
