My main one is people massively overrate Vidic. Not in terms of his peak ability, but his longevity at the top.

I remember people used to say Vidic was class for longer than a decade when people used to have these discussions all the time when comparing Vidic with the likes of VVD, Carvalho etc but this isn’t true.

He was only in Man Utd’s starting XI for 5 years, of which he was also awful in his last season in the clubs starting XI at the club and then became a benchwarmer under Moyes, aged 29. He was a finished player by 31. He was also nothing special before his move to Man Utd.

From current strikers the only one I can think of that might is Haaland. Nobody else.

Throughout history there’s a lot more options of course but it’s probably still less than 20-25 people, not that I can be arsed to think of them all

You Spurs fans have become insufferable this season

Not as bad as Spurs vs Liverpool this season. By comparison there was:

• one very 50/50 red card which based on previous precedents shouldn’t have been given
• one absolutely not red card
• disallowed goal that was clearly onside
• called a foul by Salah who won the ball fairly as he got into a goal scoring position
• three Spurs players that never got carded for gesturing to card Liverpool players (2 of which would be receiving a 2nd yellow)
• about 5 yellows for both teams that weren’t even fouls

So yeah, no. And don’t even get me started on the ridiculous refereeing in that Barcelona vs Chelsea game 15 or so years ago!

One or two bad decisions doesn’t make it the worst performance this season.

City should get 10 points deducted per proven charge, if it goes over the max number of points in a season, just roll it to the next season when they’re in the championship etc etc

Probably has something to do with the fact that Ajax side had some notable individuals with significant staying power since - most importantly it was their breakthrough season in European football

I mean De Ligt, De Jong, Onana, Ziyech, Mazraoui all went to some of the biggest teams in world football shortly after.

By comparison, Lyon in 19/20 for instance couldn’t offer any better by way of posterity than Depay. Nobody in that team has since been at a huge club, ergo less people talk about it.

The Villarreal side in the semis, are you talking about 06 or 2022? 22 just doesn’t have much by way of staying power for players involved. 06 team’s achievement just suffers from not being as recent.

Box to box midfielders are the ones that can do everything so yes your Gullits, Toures, Gerard’s of the world.
