I genuinely think this guy has some incredible PR with the help of Chelsea fans and the media. This dude has straight up been pants since march of 2022 and is somehow still in the “best rb itw” convo “when fit/available”. Is built like a gym devotee yet has the endurance and stamina of a wet shoe box, puts in a good attacking performance every 3 to 5 BUSINESS weeks (not even an exaggeration) and defensively, well, ask Anthony F*CKING Gordon who boned him and got him sent to the showers, probably for the better.

lol he’s the best RB in the world and most complete as well.

This’s a player that’s barely 100% fit due to him getting injured after every 5 games. Yet he comes back rusty and put in a performance that’s better than 98% of RB.

He had a poor game today and all of a sudden, you all come out of your shell and say he’s overrated. Why did you have to post this now? Why didn’t you make this post after the City game???

That’s the problem I have with you lot on social media. When you player is on form, it would all be cricket… but as soon as the player has a poor game, tweets and post will be about how that player is overrated.

This’s what VVD suffers from. Dude would be flawless in 95% of LFC games, but has one stinker and people begin to talk about how overrated he is.

Yes he’s been given 60 minute run outs up till now while he works on his injury resistance.

OP is an idiot, even with his stuttering fitness this is the only bad performance I can remember from him for years. Just last week he had Doku in his pocket.

I feel like most people who come on here to bitch and moan about how some player is over- or underrated don’t have any clear idea of how people rate that player in the first place.

    Also, these discussions are tiresome.

As a Chelsea fan this seems a bit biased, but this is so reactionary he had Doku in his pocket last game, and Doku looked amazing every game other than that one. I hope this is a troll post.

Chelsea fan here. Yeah he is. Great player on his day, that’s about it. Chelsea fans in general overrate their players. I’m Argentinian, and I was in disbelief when someone said that Enzo is the next Lampard. Or that Cole Palmer is an upgrade from Jorginho. Really insane stuff.

cole palmer doesn’t even play close to Jorginho position and everybody knows this. I think you just made that up or you ‘someone’ is an 8 y.o. kid

I know they don’t play anywhere near the same, which is why it was crazy. Maybe it was because they offloaded Jorginho and got a Cole Palmer who is good. It just felt like they were shitting on a past player for no reason.

And I wish I could make up something that crazy. I found the comment on a Chelsea fan page on Instagram.

Okay so I looked back at the context. They were talking about signing Palmer and Enzo after offloading Jorginho and Kai. I guess the new players were “upgrades” because Kai didn’t work out and Jorginho was past his best. I dm’d you the screenshot

well, if you’re comparing palmer with Kai, I do believe palmer is playing better.

Kai will always have his Leverkusen hype and cl final goal. But palmer is currently an upgrade on him.

When defenders do well going forward people tend to assume that they are good footballers even if they are poor defenders. He is alright. If he is this injury prone at such a young age then his future doesn’t look too bright tbh. Gets too many cards. I think he thinks he is Ramos.

I agree the hype is a bit much for what he’s shown so far. Very good when he can stay fit, but even then not the best RB in the league, and not a contender for the best in the world at the moment.

Not to say Reece James couldn’t yet build on the talent he has. At 23 he still has time on his side. But right now I’d sooner have Walker or Trippier; put a quality no6 in front of TAA and I’d add Trent to that list too.

He’s brilliant. One red card doesn’t change how great he’s been for the last couple years. For context I am not a Chelsea fan.

Chelsea Fan here. I love The Fridge, but he has been overplayed and rushed back from injuries far to regularly over the past 2 and a half seasons.

When he is fit and starts on a regular basis, he is the best in the league.

He reminds me of Ledley King in some ways. One of the best players in his position. Never fit

Much like Ledley he’ll never be seen as world class by fans outside of his club due to the fact he’s never available.
