I own a white pickup truck. Is it a “boring” color? Sure. But that’s the point. I don’t want it to stand out. I don’t want it to stick out like a sore thumb.
Plus as someone that works in construction, I don’t mind it. It matches the other trucks and vans in the fleet and I don’t attract unwanted attention when I have to park in the center median or in other questionable locations. Combine that with my hard hat and safety vest, nobody asked me what I’m doing or why I’m here.
This was going to be my answer too.
The Chrysler brand desperately needs a comeback, and quickly. It’s such a shame how they’ve been sunken to where they are now. Chrysler cars used to be beautiful and elegant back in the 50’s and 60’s. But decades of cost cutting, poor quality control, and corporate ransacking has tarnished the brand. The last successful period for them was the 80’s under Lee Iacocca with the K-Cars, but they definitely weren’t beautiful or inspiring. They were economy cars with swappable badges. I understand why they had to be like that at the time, but still.
Back in 2009, I really had hope that the post-bankruptcy merger with Fiat would give them a jump and help them push the brand further, but clearly that barely happened. All we got in the 2010’s were a slightly gussied up Sebring (Chrysler 200), a facelift on the 300, and a new minivan. Now all the brand has now is the Pacifica minivan…and that’s it.
In the whole conglomerate of Stellantis, it feels like the Chrysler brand has been completely overshadowed by pretty much every other brand in the lineup (at least the US sold ones anyway). Chrysler would be a good candidate for a restructuring, whether it’s as a luxury car brand, or an EV/tech based brand to show off their latest and greatest innovations and engineering. Oh, and definitely better quality control.
