Mitsubishi, weirdly enough, where I’m from (Philippines), they are doing just fine, but they are struggling everywhere else. Mitsubishi have a special place in our hearts, we love our box-type Lancers, Galants, and especially Pajeros. Today though Evos are gone, the Eclipse is an SUV, I really loved the new Mirage but they never thought of making a hot hatch, which would have been perfect!

Chrysler should be the American Volvo, practical EVs and plug-ins with clean design. Stellantis would never allow it though and Cadillac/Volvo/Hyundai figured out the segment better even though they’re not great fits brand-wise.

Chrysler made the Minivan popular in the 80s, and it made all the other car companies get into the Minivan game.

This was going to be my answer too.

The Chrysler brand desperately needs a comeback, and quickly. It’s such a shame how they’ve been sunken to where they are now. Chrysler cars used to be beautiful and elegant back in the 50’s and 60’s. But decades of cost cutting, poor quality control, and corporate ransacking has tarnished the brand. The last successful period for them was the 80’s under Lee Iacocca with the K-Cars, but they definitely weren’t beautiful or inspiring. They were economy cars with swappable badges. I understand why they had to be like that at the time, but still.

Back in 2009, I really had hope that the post-bankruptcy merger with Fiat would give them a jump and help them push the brand further, but clearly that barely happened. All we got in the 2010’s were a slightly gussied up Sebring (Chrysler 200), a facelift on the 300, and a new minivan. Now all the brand has now is the Pacifica minivan…and that’s it.

In the whole conglomerate of Stellantis, it feels like the Chrysler brand has been completely overshadowed by pretty much every other brand in the lineup (at least the US sold ones anyway). Chrysler would be a good candidate for a restructuring, whether it’s as a luxury car brand, or an EV/tech based brand to show off their latest and greatest innovations and engineering. Oh, and definitely better quality control.

They should ditch Alfa brand in US and sell it as Chrysler in the US.

Stelantis is actually pushing to make Chrysler their luxury EV brand in the US. Stelantis even said they are planning to cut brand names if those brands can’t recover by some future date.

I still cling to the idea that they’ll bring over some of the French cars branded as Chryslers. I dunno if it has much merit at this point, but I think a DS 9 or Peugeot would be a nice contender to Buick or Lincoln.

This really feels like it should be a no brainer. Chrysler has American brand recognition, but no vehicles Stallantis has vehicles, but little brand recognition. It really makes you wonder what both parties expected to get out of the merger, if they’re just going to have the same draw backs they did before
