If you blink, you miss it. These things happen. People forget what it was like in the past. The most incredible infractions would happen all the time. It’s unfortunately normal.

I agree about people only getting upset when it’s against their club.

I don’t think the issue is with VAR. Some of the rules/laws need to be amended. Some of the laws create unfair outcomes. But in regard to VAR, I can’t imagine people upset by the fact that the right decisions are being made.

Maybe the play is occurring too quickly for you to notice because these players are playing off the shoulder of the defense. The offside rule is that you must be either behind two opposition players when the ball is passed to you ( almost always one of those players is the goalie) or you are behind the ball (a back pass). Those are the primary ways a player is offside.

Those players you highlighted were just in line with a defender when the ball was passed into space.

Definitely not the same thing or even similar.

The Ballon D’or award is, in large part, or at times, a popularity contest. The hype that a player achieves within the year will greatly influence the journalists who vote for players.

Is this supposed to be a joke? This guy can’t be serious. Let’s translate what this all means:

Progressive passing yards = Not passing behind him but in front of him. (would be a hell of a thing for the last man back to pass behind him! He’s the only one on the pitch that will never pass behind himself. This is a useless statistic.)

Long passes completed = the keeper long ball. (Literally means nothing again.)

Passes into the final third = the keeper long ball. (Practically the same statistic as the previous one. If he’s kicking long balls, they are going into the final third.

I’m more interested in other stats, such as how many saves are made from shots outside the box. That’s a meaningful statistic. And if you look at stats like those, Ramsdale has Raya beat.
