You can play pretty much anything on it given enough tinkering. It’s just a PC.

I agree, although I think there are valid reasons not to sometimes.
Power consumption, the deck might not use a lot of current but the 4090 will for sure haha
Slightly less straightforward, you need to care about streaming resolution, active display, hdr (deactivating it usually) and stuff like that
Some games might not have cloud saves and that means you’ll have to choose between local or streaming (or setup some kind of sync yourself)
imo it’s worth it but I also enjoy the process so I’m biased. I always find it magical to be able to do that.
Latency and stability matter way more than bandwidth for game streaming (bandwidth barely matters honestly, if you can watch netflix then there’s a good chance you have enough bandwidth for 800p)
Are you sure there is no latency benefit? This is one of the stated advantages of WiFi 6 over 5 is better latency
If it uses rockstar launcher, there’s a chance you need to switch to desktop mode during installation to login to the launcher
If you’re using Steam Remote Play it’s a known issue with SteamOS 3.5 (colors appearing washed out /darker)
From what I’ve read, your options are:
Disable hardware encoding (or decoding, people said either)
Use Steam Remote Play from desktop mode
Use something else, Steam Remote Play is subpar these days
To be expected, HDR on linux is super new
I would expect developers and valve to improve upon it over time
Your math doesn’t add up, 300 would be 250 cheaper than 550
Perceived weight is not just a number. Two devices at the same weight but different sizes feel different (usually the denser, the more heavy it feels)
Balance matters a lot too, if the OLED had the same weight as the LCD but better weight distribution, it could feel lighter just because of that. My guess is that the OLED also has slightly better balance
So that could be a confirmation that the LE is lighter than the non-LE OLED versions too. Might have to do a shell swap on mine when I get it haha
It’s a WIP.

I don’t have the OLED yet but I’ve got an OLED TV and it absolutely highlights low light defects in the video stream. A slightly raised black is the difference between the pixel being completely off or on, which is pretty easy to spot compared to an IPS.
Can’t say for sure what’s causing it in your case but I don’t think comparing with an IPS will help you debug it much because of this.
I would suggest trying to play natively (despite the bad performance) to see if the artifacts persist.
FYI, for those in the USA
My tracking number started working on the UPS site this morning but was only showing “The delivery date will be provided as soon as possible.”
It was actually lying to me. Once connected to my UPS account it says the delivery estimate “Friday, November 24 between 10:45 A.M. - 2:45 P.M” whereas the page while logged out still says no date
I think you’re confusing z1 with z1 extreme. From what I’ve read z1 performance is very similar to the deck’s so the main argument for the ally would be easier game compatibility (for fortnite/gamepass in this case)
