Neto in January and Osimhen in the summer would be the right move I think. But have people lost that much faith in Jesus at ST that they feel the need to spend 100m on a replacement?

Why are we still talking about a guy involved in over 200 betting scandals?

Did I miss something? Has he been cleared? If not I don’t want him on the team

I agree with him here. Based mostly on what I feel, I think it should be Neto. Toney just doesn’t move me like that, but I can understand the argument.

Toney is gonna be too expensive for what he is. I really think isak would have been perfect for us. Let’s wait til next summer and see who’s the next up and coming talent instead of a 28 year old English forward

True but only if the late 20s player you’re buying is cheap. Like Trossard, since they won’t have any resale value at the end of their contract. Our club doesn’t have unlimited money and we’re already close to FFP limitations that buying Toney for 60+ would be too rich for kse

For the price he would cost, I would rather we spend it on a player with good resale value.

I’m not convinced Toney would ve anywhere near as good when playing for a team that isn’t built around him. Neto seems like he would fit our team much better.

Based on zero cover on RW, if it’s one or their other it’s Neto for me.

If you stick Toney in the centre, you can play Jesus on the right, so it wouldn’t be one or the other in that sense, though still not ideal.

Personally prefer the Toney and Jesus RW option, he’s really effective on that rw and it brings fantastic balance to the options around him

I understand choosing Neto if you think a better 9 will be attainable, however I think fans underestimate how nearly impossible it is to recruit great 9s in this market

Toney quite literally cannot go from Day 1. He’s not played any football since May, and is banned until 16 January.

That’s a good point, but it won’t take him half a season to get into the groove of things like it may for a non-prem talent coming in and getting adjusted. It’s not like he’s been sitting at home doing nothing or coming off a huge injury. He’ll definitely be ready to go pretty quickly IMO

Jesus said he came here to play 9 and was promised that. I doubt he’d be happy on the right wing for long

          I replied to

          zero cover on RW

          not permanent RW.

Saka is always going to be 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice RW.

Toney and Jesus can fight for #1 striker, and swapped around to change our profile, but when Saka is injured or needs to be taken off, Jesus is an ideal cover.

In this scenario it’s Jesus displacing Saka so that’s only going to happen rarely

Not to say it can’t work, but Jesus is our best option up top and (while a very small sample size) has not looked great the few times he has been at RW for us

I agree. Havertz as backup CF with Jesus and Saka on RW would give us enough depth to have a chance of winning the league this year.

Jesus can play on the right, he’s done it before and bringing in Toney would create more opportunities to play them both together and give Saka a rest.

Toney, no. Just the flavour of the month name for /r/Gunners to be obssessed with because he’s a) known and b) perceived as available.

Flavor of the last 12 months, you mean. His name has been bandied about for long before his suspension and he fills an obvious need. So does Neto, but as many have pointed out, they both fill the same needs in different ways.

Pedro, or whoever Mikel prefers at RW.

We got options at ST in Jesus, Nketiah, Trossard and Havertz. Hell even Martinelli can play there.

Make what you will of those options but they are options.

Now let’s list who can play RW instead of Saka: Jesus. That is all, and it takes him away from his best position.

Pedants will say Reis and Vieira can play RW too but come on, not without significant drop off from Bukayo.

I’m not saying we don’t need a ST, but for my money, a top class RW is more important.
