I find this hilarious. Even more so if during the silence they ask me to elaborate and I mumble a completely irrelevant idiom.
I have done that! Usually I just go, “what?”
Like they are weird for asking me.

Whenever we pass Miramira jewelry store one of us always says “Mira mira…” (translates pretty much to “would you look at that…”) to get the other one to look.
Do you know the “gatocitos” Lady? She always starts her videos with “mira mira” 🤣
