Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What song lyrics did you mishear that completely changed the meaning of the song?English
6·16 天前You can tell by the way I use my wand, Im a woman-man no automaton.
Stayin Alive circa 2001 on my crappy boombox .
Very possibly so. I’m also not a huge believer in the sanctity of lore when you are adapting something to a different medium. IE, didnt miss Tom Bombadil in the Lord if the Rings movies so I’m pretty easy going as long as the adaptation is good in its own right.
Tap for spoiler
But seriously though, fuck Bran. Terrible character, just completely uninteresting and
lameuncool from the word go. Gets Hodor killed, somehow through unexplained time travel causes Hodor’s “hodor” problem. A girl takes him all the way through the frozen north just for him to say, bye now! Trash character. Ser Davos should have been King at the end.
Same here just finished it a few weeks ago.
I never read the books but for my money I thought the last season was really good. It maybe didnt end the way I wanted it to but it wasnt a bad ending by any means.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do you use the "uno reverse card"?English
5·26 天前We never played that way in my circles but when I would play with 2 people reverse basically did nothing so we would start with 9 cards and reverse would do the same thing as a skip.

121·2 个月前Blu ray discs cost pennies to manufacture, especially at scale.
Also, Sony owns the blu ray IP.
Also also, if they gave a fuck they could just ship 2 discs in a box. Like they did at the tail end of the xbox 360 days.
They’d just rather not deal with it anymore.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•According to Lemmy Users: Blockchain was a grift, AI is a grift, Quantum computing will be a future grift. So according to you what new and emergent technologies are not / will not be a grift?English
3·2 个月前I agree from the standpoint of research for research sake is still worth doing but anyone telling you that they have a working quantum computer that is just around the corner from working is most likely grifting.
It sounds crazy in 2026 but check your local library.

There’s no magic answer. My best advice having wasted half my life trying to accomplish what seemed like a “good life” I ended up nearly broke and divorced with almost nothing but suffering to show for my time.
Now I pursue what makes me happy and only try to be as successful as I need to be so that I can keep doing what makes me happy. One day I’ll be dead, and then whatever pile of shit I accumulated will be unceremoniously thrown in the trash by a distant relative. But if I can build something or help someone, then that’s what I feel like doing with my time. Its not hedonism but its sort of a disengage ment from the rat race. Im not trying to get rich or gain power, I’m trying to relax and enjoy my life and help people while I can.
