It’s a rumor from a guy who heard a thing from a dude who knows someone that overheard this other guy while walking past a hallway where two people happened to be speaking about something they read online.

Our constitution has a very specific amendment for this very reason.

Representative democracy is worthless anyways. It favors short term, short-sighted solutions to problems that require long term, sometimes painful corrections. But the party that implements such policies will be heavily punished as soon as the public feels that pain. So instead the public continues to vote in short-sighted but temporary joy seeking politicians.

An epistocracy combined with a civic service model would be far better. To be able to vote you must demonstrate a baseline capability of intelligence and rational thought along with having performed civic service in some way. Otherwise you cannot vote and simply live life normally.

Turns out, when you have anonymous posting, anyone can be anyone.

9 times out of 10, if you’re engaging someone in political talk, you’re talking to someone in China, Russia, or India.

The title is beyond stupid. Corruption has existed since humanity walked upright. There is absolutely nothing new under the sun. It has all been done before, the only thing that changes is technology.

I mean, the amount of cheering and celebrating at Charlie Kirks death pretty much shows that both sides are only leaving the other alive because jail is a powerful de-motivator.

But it’s only good enough to keep a person civil if they think they have something to lose. Make society bad enough and people start seeing violence not as a last resort but as a first option.

All of it is bullshit to try and get a bailout from the government and a monopoly.

You talk about cognitive impairment of others yet fail to understand the only thing you’re doing is imparting your world view and how you navigate it as how everyone else does/should. You have an extremely narrow perception of how the world works because you can only view it through your own lens.

The only one here impaired in their judgement is you.

Not everyone participates in reading the deeper meaning of media.

Some people just turn off their brains and watch the magic smiles box and come away liking the characters and movie without thinking any further than what was portrayed on screen.

Half the characters on this list are just really awesome visual/character portrayals.

They didn’t misunderstand the message, you misunderstood their intent going into the media.

You watch movies to dissect their meanings, others watch movies to escape reality for a bit.

The problem with that is it assumes every idea or opinion is of equal value and that every idea or opinion deserves equal time.

They just don’t. I don’t need give you a platform, weigh the pros and cons, and listen to you extol the virtues of you shitting in my soup. It is not on equal footing to the idea of not shitting in my soup.

Likewise, I don’t need to listen to the pros and cons of a flavor of linux backed by technocrats in bed with a body politic that would cause any founding father to eat his own beard in rage.

I love my job, even when I have to deal with nonsense like that and I’m compensated very well to be on call 24/7.

It can but I’m not looking to make things even more complicated. We have enough unexplained non-sense in the project as is, having to link it correctly is just endless pain that I don’t want to deal with.

I’ve completely banned any code that can’t be explained. I’ve had my CTO send me code at 3 AM to implement and when I ask him what I’m looking at he just says it doesn’t need review, just push it.
