  • This is why it’s so hard to get fans onboard with putting pressure on refs. You get pissed when it happens to you and laugh when it’s someone else. It’s what happened with Liverpool. It’s what happened with us. And it’s what you’re doing with Newcastle right now. Things aren’t going to change if the pressure isn’t coming from all sides for the same decision. Like it or not public opinion plays a huge role in how the PGMOL responds to certain decisions. That’s why they responded the way they did against us.

  • The difference is really that the decision that Arteta is complaining about was deemed correct by them and the media. Whether that was the case or not is a different question. They’ve admitted their mistakes against Wolves and Brighton. And theyve done so knowing the backlash wont be as bad.

Gary O’Neil can say whatever he wants. They’ve been fucked over for 5 straight games and yet because they’re not a big club media don’t talk about it much and the refs just admit their mistakes and move on because no one cares about Wolves. If any top club experienced what Wolves have in the last five games thats all fans and media would be taking about constantly. In the league not one club has been fucked over as much as Brighton have and by quite a distance. Wolves are probably the first club that’s had it happen five games in a row.

  • I mean you say that but Chelsea and Spurs probably the most open teams we’ve played this season and they’re the ones we struggled the most against and conceded the most XG as well. It’s really not as simple as teams are playing us differently. We really have not been as fluid this season. It’s more like we’re the ones playing differently partly because of new personnel and partly due to the fact we’re trying to be more compact. There’s been a real lack of central penetration this season. But it should also be mentioned that this graph should look way worse than it does because we’ve got 6 pens this season which inflates our XG by quite a bit.

  • Youre not wrong. People are complaining about the absence of goalkeeping stats here. I’m just providing said stats. There’s still pros and cons to both. Ramsdales gk stats from last season were pretty poor as well. Raya’s was better. Different systems and all that are another thing to consider but i dont think its abaolutely clear that Raya should be dropped right now. A couple more games with Raya still having the same issues and a change would be wise. However, we need to try to make this work because Ramsdales underlying stats from last season and this season haven’t been amazing so I’d say give Raya at least 10 games.

  • Even those back Raya though. 75% save percentage vs. 55% for Ramsdale. 60%cs for Raya and 25% for Ramsdale. 8 out of 12 shots saved by Raya. 5 out of 9 for Ramsdale. You could say it’s too small a sample size which is true but based on last season Raya beats Ramsdale as well. I really don’t care about which one of them do start but a few weeks ago people were calling for Raya to play and now the opposite. I don’t really care who plays as long as it’s better for the team but right now stats back Raya in any case. The fact that he makes fans nervous isn’t new. Brentford fans have said he’s prone to doing that.
