Batteries keep getting cheaper. By the time you would need to replace the battery (if ever), the cost will be extremely low. Plus, there will be refurb packs available by then as well. Also, recycling will be in full swing so the materials will be cheaper than mining.
If you want a regular-looking car that’s an EV, how about a Hyundai Kona? My 2021 is a hoot to drive but it looks like the gas-powered one. It has good range and it’s affordable.
Instead of upgrading your breaker panel, look into using a ConnectDER. It allows you to tap the power at your meter BEFORE the panel. It sits between the meter and the building and has its own breaker. It’s pretty cool actually and has to be MUCH cheaper than a panel upgrade.
