Apologies if they are, I just haven’t come across them yet.

There are too many different companies and most of their payment methods or apps don’t work with each other. Get someone who just bought an EV an EA gift card but they only have EVgo, Chargepoint or some small regional brand in their area.

I’ll never understand the fascination of gift cards that are locked to one place like a $50 Applebee’s gift card costs you $55 but so would a $50 visa gift card you can use anywhere. It’s so weird people’s fascination with specific gift cards.

Maybe because most people charge at home most of the time. An EV charging gift card might take months to finally use.

Why a gift card? Why limit someone to only a single spending avenue?

A gift of cash or even a Visa/MasterCard is vastly more flexible without locking someone into one thing. And it also can be used for charging if needed.

Some grocery stores have upto 20% discount on gift cards.

If I am gifting someone $100 of something, I prefer getting 20% cashback to be able to spend on groceries at the same store.
