I rented a 2022 Tacoma when I took a trip and I enjoyed it. My brother enjoyed it so much that he bought one. The biggest problem I have with the older model is that it’s a $27K truck being sold for $40K+. It’s such a cheap and old platform that it flat doesn’t deserve the price tag. The new model seems to fix that, but buying the first year of a new vehicle is always risky. You’re the beta tester for everyone else.
My dad had a 2019 Ram Laramie, which was a rock solid truck, completely problem free for 100K miles, but he decided to get a new truck. He had his heart set on a High Country Silverado or a Sierra Denali, but I told him that he needed to test drive the F150 too. He’s not really a ford guy, so he was being reluctant about it, but he agreed to test the F150 after he tested the GM offerings.
Yeah, he drove home that day in a 2022 F150 Lariat. It craps all over the GM offerings. His is a 3.5L ecoboost, which is knocking on 50K miles without a single problem.
I did it for a while. I did an Angry Video Game Nerd style review system, full of foul language and crude humor, but underneath the character was my actual experiences from being a car dealer and mechanic. I told people about the known problems and what to look for in the average craigslist cars. I did OK for a while, but, a lot of people get pissy when you crap on their favorite car and youtube wrecked me when they went family friendly, so I pretty much gave it up.
I have a 65 Impala with factory manual brakes and 4 wheel drums. Feel and performance wise, they’re almost identical to power brakes. So if set up properly, you should be fine.
I daily drive a 1970 GM product, so I am mostly used to it, but yeah, drives me up the wall. I crank the radio so I don’t have to listen to it.
Hot, dry air does the best. Oh and RainX anti fog long before you get to that point.
