The argument for West Ham is that the have a monopoly of fans from East London, through Essex They undoubtably have a large following and culture about them that all of the U.K. is aware of.

You know nothing of the history of English football if you didn’t already regard Newcastle, Villa, and West Ham as big clubs.
Not to mention that his wife recently died as well
I was actually too young then and hadn’t got into football. But my dad and his family had run ins with him previously, and never had a good word said about him. Without getting into detail, let’s just say that he was allegedly involved in some horrible stuff
I was never a fan of Fat Fred, but I genuinely think he wanted the club to compete, lost his way after SBR, but I think Owen was his last throw of the dice. In hindsight it was an awful signing, Owen knew he was never going back to Liverpool, and he gave up after his 1st injury, and was only bothered about England. I think it also hurt him a lot that he missed out on winning the Champions League with Liverpool.
Kluivert never really got the chance, was mostly used in cup games.
How about Luque?
Mikel Merino. Only at Newcastle for a year, towards the end of it he got injured. He only left because he was home sick, if he stayed he would have been one of the best DM’s the league had seen.
You haven’t been, or have at least threatened to stop your support.
If it’s affecting your mental health then see someone, but if it’s just childish banter, and not winning getting to you, then grow up and take it on the chin.
‘The team I chose to support 4 years ago are actually shit’ Boo fucking hooo. Mate, high school crushes have lasted longer than your ‘support’.
I’m a Newcastle fan, born and raised here. We haven’t won anything since 1969. You have to go back to February to remember the last time you won something. Yeah ok there is a good chance that we (Newcastle) win things in future now, but there is no guarantee, and it seemed a very very long shot for a very long time whilst I have supported them.
Your attitude is why a lot of Americans, and foreign fans get a lot of stick. You want to be part of the football culture, but you only want to be part of it when it suits you, when you can chant back to your glory supporting mates of another team, or even worse call fans of smaller clubs and insult their teams.
Man Utd’s dominance of English football is over, but they had a good run, and as much as it pains me to say it, they have a significant history.
Make a decision, either continue your support and keep going, or get out of football, and sport now.
Almost all modern day sporting success is down to money. In English Football before Man City it was Chelsea who were challenging Man Utd, who they themselves kept buying players. Arsenal had a few one off years of success. Blackburn also had a year of success thanks to Jack Walkers money. Before Man Utd was Liverpool and Everton thanks to the Moores family in the 70’s-80’s. Before that you are going back to Man Utd in the 50’s-60’s who bought all the good youngsters.
There is no rule change needed, they were both red cards, and I say that as a Newcastle fan.
We did it last season and finished 4th and got to a cup final. We are suffering injuries this season, but that’s not because of our tempo. Plenty of successful teams have played at this tempo, in fact it’s where we/Howe drew inspiration from.
In the Canadian Premier League, each team has to give a certain amount of playing time to academy players. I think it’s something like 1,000 minutes per team. Something like that would be great.
Hundreds at them at all stadium now. Yes cubs should probably do more with kids and community, but that’s not the way to go.
At Newcastle we have a problem with people outside of the area queuing outside the main entrance when the typical top 6 clubs come. The stewards even put up barriers for them to be segregated, trouble is they would be in the way of the crowd and obviously were not attending the games. We should have put in place a ‘The away team will not be allowed to stop for autographs rule’. Since the takeover I’ve never sat around that area, so don’t see it as much anymore, but I’d imagine if we continue our progress, the same people will be back for autographs for our players soon.
The training ground has similar problems. We have a policy where players don’t stop outside the school holidays to do sign autographs. The YouTubers though always kick up a fuss and try to prevent the cars from getting past. It’s worse during the school holidays because the YouTubers will just push the kids out of the way.
Actually, UEFA’s rules for this season actually clarify that it’s not a penalty if it comes off another part of the player.
