There’s always two sides. You can grow up poor and uneducated but that doesn’t mean you have to be mean and hateful. And even if you grow up middle-class and are exposed to propaganda, that doesn’t mean that you have to fully give in to it. To be this far gone, you have to have also let it happen.
It’s not something that happened overnight, this has been a half century in the making. Fox News did most of the heavy lifting, but even before the industrialists came up with a long game to overthrow the republic back in 1971 at the Business Roundtable.
It happened a little bit at a time, and all it would take to reverse it is a popular alternative, yet we trust the democrats to do that as they decry popular as the great danger we are facing. They call the republicans populist, and they are dicks, so therefore populists are dicks, is the logic. Too stupid to even refute if it wasn’t so effective with out chemical pollution addled weak minds, (present company excluded.)

Food insecurity in my ruby red state just hit 37%. More than 1/3 of the state is fucking hungry! The food banks struggle to keep running, let alone keep pace with demand. People just need that everyday experience to be linked with the republican administration here, but that direct line isn’t clear to people, or they’re disenfranchised enough not to care anymore. Education campaigns are so sorely needed.
Voted for Harris. I didn’t vote against my intrest. Still suffer. I’m in this camp. I’m hanging on. But just barely. But the moment is here. People are starving. It’s about to get even more crazy.
If you aren’t a filthy rich shareholder then voting for Harris wa voting again your interests too.
No capitalist party will ever fix the underlying problems that caused Trump. The DNC isn’t even interested in mitigating the damage.

Funny thing is food insecurity means getting fat instead of thin nowadays. We somehow are able to create cheap calories with no substance.

While certainly a bunch of them had bad luck, statistically, a whole bunch of them made bad decisions and/or squandered what they had.
PLENTY of us know a boomer who had a small fortune and pissed it all away because they thought making money was so easy more was just going to come to them.
The ones I know just pissed it away from buying stuff. Like the silent gen were still frugal but were constantly waiting for another great depression but the boomers would remodel something a few years after they remodeled because they decided they did not like what they had chose. Like not because it needed it do to age and things kinda falling apart. Or bought a new or remodeled place but had to remodel to get exactly what they wanted.
Did they piss it away on crypto or prediction markets? Did they piss it away specifically because they were born within a range of years?
There’s a difference here - most day to day Millennial and Gen-Z workers don’t MAKE enough to have the opportunity to be scammed. The yuppie, upwardly mobile class of rich college grads has been a minority for a LONG time.
The boomers grew up in an era where a high school diploma got you the equivalent of a 60k a year salary as a STARTING pay just for having a pulse, and a huge number of them retired with a pension.
There’s a massive difference between being desperate and grabbing for an opportunity to get out of the endless treadmill to the grave, and having everything you need to be comfortable for the rest of your life and blowing it.
There’s little difference. While yes, the elderly themselves get scammed due to cognitive decline and extra targeting from scammers, all the youngins get ripped off too. You ain’t special. I gave crypto and internet gambling as examples for a reason…
