Ok, this is probably a weird question. My husband thinks I’m the only person in the world who microwaves cheese before eating it.
I prefer room temperature or warm cheese - it just tastes so much better! So I will microwave a slice of cheese for like 5-10 seconds (depending on size) to make it all warm.
Am I the only freak who does this? I swear it tastes so much better this way…
Warm cheese is good. When I have pasta I pop grated cheese on top then microwave it so it’s melty and delicious

No, I do not, and if I saw someone doing it, I would be unable to conceal my initial bafflement/mild horror, if I’m being perfectly honest.
That being said, let your hot cheese freak flag fly! I’m not gonna follow you, but I support your quest. I have no source for this, but my understanding is that temperature is like a volume kob for flavor (only up to a certain point, of course, though I’m not convinced lava isn’t delicious). Therefore, what you’re doing makes sense, even if it flies in the face of convention.

I don’t really like eating just cheese. cheese is a condiment to me.
That’s my husband’s view, too. To me, cheese is life.
don’t get me wrong. its like the best condiment and I like it on everything. That being said I think this solves the mystery. He does not like plain cheese to begin with so he does not have the palette to notice a difference. It would seem nuts to me to but I could totally see my wife doing this. Im totally not going to tell her about it.
I know several certified cheese professionals (believe it or not, that is an actual thing) and when they run events, they generally give the cheese 30-60 minutes to come to room temperature before serving it.

If I put the slice of cheese in something like a quesadilla, bean and cheese burrito, grilled cheese sandwich, etc. – yes, to get the cheese melty quickly.
I think that’s a common trick in fast food places too for cheeseburgers and breakfast sandwiches and such.

The flavor of cheese commonly opens up with the application of heat. I’d even argue that eating cold cheese is downright irresponsible from a dietary standpoint, as cheese is also calorie-dense, and cold cheese is less satisfying / interesting than warm cheese. At least… I assume that’s true for most people?
Me, I don’t have a microwave, so instead I pop cheese in the air-fryer and heat it at ~200°F for a minute or two on a non-stick surface.
Ok, you may have just changed my life. We have an air fryer and funny enough, I have fried Haloumi cheese in there but never thought to warm up regular cheese.
I am trying this for lunch.

Btw, if possible you may want to mute the fan for the heating. Thin slices of cheese (or anything) like to get lifted up by the fan, flying willy-nilly.Thank you for the tip! We can’t have flying cheese… unless it’s flying into my mouth.

I love cheese that’s made for frying. Like Haloumi (sp?) or some thicker cheese. It so freaking good!
I use the microwave to melt cheese on things like tortilla chips or whatever. I generally don’t eat cheese by itself except for string cheese.

Does she microwave it just enough to be able to scoop it (so for logistical reason) or does she prefer the flavor that way? I’m curious.
