I’m pretty good with the obscure English rules, but this one trips me up almost every time

Mainly because the two things you just mentioned are almost identical imo

Still makes sense in this sentence to be fair, but our Madam probably meant affected.

I.e. anti LGBT protests had an effect on those people and they are being shouted out.

Because language is communication, and improperly used language is bad communication, so it’s not pointless.

I do, yes. But not to “call them out”, but to help them correct and improve. There was no malice in my correction.

Just a complete side-stepping of OP’s actual message to nitpick about one word.

Thanks for the support this month.

If you see someone you support try to spread a message but their presentation is disheveled, do you just pretend you didn’t see anything and let them embarrass themselves? Try to see past your anger. I’m not speaking with anger to you right now.

I think it’s more embarrassing to miss an opportunity to spread support in favor of correcting someone publicly.

It’s possible to do both, but you and others here chose not to.

Hmm, there’s a difference between a simple misspellign and using the wrong word. Generally, a mispeling doesn’t lead to confusion, the intended meaning is still clear because there’s no collision with the meaning of another word.

They’re also peeps who are bothered by misuse of similar sound pronouns. E.g. using he instead of she really do bother some people. You might even be one of them!

Also it’s quite the fun fact. Weirdly effects also can mean personal possession.

“During the darkest days of the AIDS crisis, we buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon and we danced all night. The dance kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for. It didn’t look like we were going to win then and we did. It doesn’t feel like we’re going to win now but we could. Keep fighting, keep dancing.”

    Happy pride! Keep dancing 💕

I once saw someone post online “No one ever advanced the cause while in the closet” and I had a real hard time not making a whole thing about it
