Testing 1…2…3… Is this thing on?
I had to create a new user? Is that the standard?
It needed to be done because the old server no longer exists anymore, because it would have been really costly to run both servers indefinitely. This one is staying up, though.
And I am working on getting the Findeys and the Maxes added.

Welcome!

This is also a reply. I think.
Hey there!
test test test edit It worked! THANKS OBVS! 👍 😀
Good to see you here!
YAAAAYYYYYYY!!! I am so extremely happy this site has come back from the dead!
OVBS, you are TOS, right? Have you taken over for Matt? Is he still in the mix?
Also, what is it costing y’all to provide this site for us? I’m happy to donate if there are operating expenses to cover. Just tell me a PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or Facebook Messenger account to send the money to.
No, I’m the same person who’s run macstack.net since day one when it was on phpbb(although it was hosted by dv for a while there). TOS is a different person.
Oh, I was confused. Does this mean you are Matt?
One and the same.
TOS was Schnicky as far as I knew
Yes, TOS is Shnicky.
What was TOS again? I know about macaddict and the *54s but that’s it
Testing the app, seems to work
Logged out of the mastodon app and now I can’t login again there. Every time I retried something changed, but I get 404 or time out errors. This is posted from Chrome on my phone
Unfortunately, that server is no longer active, because having a second AWS server would have cost like $300-400 extra per year and most people weren’t posting on it(really only two or three). I had both servers up for several weeks, and it cost about $40 extra because one of the servers wasn’t on a three-year reservation. This server is, so it’s up for the long haul. I think this server also provides a lot more incentive for people to want to use it, since there’s already a lot of functionality built in to it(like if you click the Communities link at the top of the page, you can go to “All” and can subscribe to tons of different communities, which are kind of like individual forums, and they’ll all be visible through this site). Lemmy has a lot of the benefits of Mastodon, but not nearly as many drawbacks(like 500 character limits and hard to follow conversations).
