Apple seems awfully quick to end-of-life their hardware these days, however. I would worry that if you bought an M1 machine, the clock would be ticking, and before you know it, you’d be seeing software whose minimum requirements were “M2 and above.”
Super disappointing that Apple is STILL selling iMacs with just 8GB of RAM in 2023.
Super disappointing the M3 iMac can not be ordered with more than 24GB of RAM.
Super disappointing the upgrade from a 256GB SSD to a 2TB SSD will still set you back about $750.
My late 2013 iMac is obsolete. I need to replace it. I am worried that if I order an M3 iMac, that will mean I am a huge sucker.
WHERE’S MY NEW MAC THEY SHOULD HAVE ANNOUNCED TODAY, GOD DAMN IT.
If those mf’s announce the new iMac, I might have to take the plunge. I’m currently running Mojave on my late 2013 iMac, and I refuse to upgrade past that, 'cause I have too many 32-bit apps that are too important to me.
So I probably need a new iMac to live alongside my vintage iMac.
Problem is, the current M1 iMac can’t be configured with more than 16GB of RAM, and I would really like to future-proof my purchase by getting a lot more.
Now, if Apple fails to release the new iMac, I am going to probably just use OpenCore Patcher to install Ventura on an external drive and boot into Mojave when I need my old stuff. Given that an external drive is a lot cheaper than a new iMac, this would be a smart move for me.
On March 13, 2021, I fell down while walking briskly, threw my hands out to break my fall, and broke two fingers on my right had! That led to me being off work for 6.5 months, but, after I returned to work, my pinky gradually curled up, and could not uncurl, due to my having a damaged or missing pulley inside that finger.
So this most recent time off, beginning January 6, 2023, has been to get that pinky finger as close to fixed as it can be.
Oh, I was confused. Does this mean you are Matt?
I’ve been off on worker’s comp since January 6, due to a workplace injury. At this point, I’ve lost track of how many surgeries I’ve had.
YAAAAYYYYYYY!!! I am so extremely happy this site has come back from the dead!
OVBS, you are TOS, right? Have you taken over for Matt? Is he still in the mix?
Also, what is it costing y’all to provide this site for us? I’m happy to donate if there are operating expenses to cover. Just tell me a PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or Facebook Messenger account to send the money to.
I only just got a Blu-ray player this year so I could watch one specific Blu-ray. But to answer your question, I would be using the monitor for everything. When I’m not using my phone to access social media, I’m on my computer at home. So, lots of movies and TV shows, lots of Facebook and Twitter, and some Photoshop. Also, I would probably start playing at least one or two new video games.
