Unfortunately, that server is no longer active, because having a second AWS server would have cost like $300-400 extra per year and most people weren’t posting on it(really only two or three). I had both servers up for several weeks, and it cost about $40 extra because one of the servers wasn’t on a three-year reservation. This server is, so it’s up for the long haul. I think this server also provides a lot more incentive for people to want to use it, since there’s already a lot of functionality built in to it(like if you click the Communities link at the top of the page, you can go to “All” and can subscribe to tons of different communities, which are kind of like individual forums, and they’ll all be visible through this site). Lemmy has a lot of the benefits of Mastodon, but not nearly as many drawbacks(like 500 character limits and hard to follow conversations).
