Half of Ford F-Series sales are XL work trucks for Fleets. They are still out there, just your average Joe financing a brand new truck probably wants some extra features.
I did drive a tradesman spec Ram work truck for a little over a year and actually came to like the Vinyl seats and rubber floors of it. I could get that thing filthy dirty and clean it in no more than 30 minutes.
You can spec rubber floors in super duties all the way up to the platinum trim, and many do when they find out about it. They’re actually really nice, molded and insulated and everything, not like the tacked down vinyl floors of the past.
It’s fun to see the reaction to rubber floors in an otherwise fully loaded lariat ultimate. Saved me 50 bucks on the option sheet too.

Import it without the Bed and install it in the US. That’s what Toyota did with the original Stout/Hilux to sell them in North America. I doubt this is meeting the current FMVSS though.
The Chicken Tax gets blamed for way more damage than it actually did. Any foreign made Pickup that had an actual chance of being marketed in the US (Ie Transit Connect, Toyota Stout/Hilux, Datsun 720, Subaru Brat, Etc) was imported with minor changes to circumvent the tax.
yeah and Ford brought Transit Connects over with extra seats they threw away when they got here, I would rather just get rid of the stupid tarriff than cause more stupid bullshit to get around it
Would be cool if AUS got it everyone here is obsessed with the higher spec Lux already. Most utes per capita pretty sure. On another note 2.0 100kw engine is insane underpowered considering it’ll be even less to the wheels + with a load

This seems like a rip off. Starting at $19,000 when the Ford Maverick started at the same price and had double the features as this thing. I get that they’re different trucks with different purposes but I feel like they could do better with the pricing.
On second thought it seems like inflation hit the Maverick like crazy because it now starts at $23,000. I guess the pricing is a tint bit more adequate then.
The Maverick is nothing but a Ford Focus shaped like a truck, its literally the same platform as the Focus. The Hiliux is an actual truck.
As an owner of a 3rz-fe, it brings great joy to see Toyota still putting the 2.7 2TR-FE in new models (the 2TR-FE reused the block of the ancient 3RZ)

Because it’s closely related to the 3rz-fe in my first car. An engine that does nothing but serve me well, and was the best possible engine to learn semi-advanced skills doing maintenance on. The 2TR is continues that legacy, so I’ll root for it.
Also it does get slightly better fuel economy than even the modern V6 GR engine.
Ah, the notorious 2TR-FE. Here in Indonesia the whole TR family of Toyota engines are notorious for chugging fuel.
14 mpg from a 2.0L 1TR-FE on urban driving, 18 mpg on mixed highway/urban driving. The 2TR-FE is a little better thanks to its increased torque compared to the 1TR.

Studebaker sold a Champ pickup in the US for a few years. Not much of a looker because it used the compact Lark sedan’s cabin on a 1940s frame, with a bed sourced from Dodge’s leftovers.

Truck is still imaged as work vehicle in most Asia countries, most people in there don’t use truck as their daily family car.
I can’t wait to import one to Canada in 15 years.
