I really would like to go electric for my wife’s next car and the Model 3 seems perfect. Great lease deals, awesome charging network, decent service location…
However, I really don’t like Musk. I’m sure the other auto maker owners/ heads are deuche bags as well but at least they aren’t vocal about it.
What is the ‘conundrum’ you have?
That the company that makes the superior EV and leading the way to sustain energy products is headed a person whose views (which you got from the mainstream media. I.e., someone fed your opinion to you) you say you don’t like ?
If I asked YOU (not anyone else here) what views those were, would you be able to prove them? I.e., not just regurgitating what you heard someone else say about him, what would YOU say ?
Since MSM fed you your opinion about musk, I can see why you go to Reddit to ask people to feed you an answer on what you should do….
I mean I don’t like Musk either and I still have this Tesla. Sure, I’d make myself feel a tad better driving something else but anything better is substantially more expensive and is a bit less convenient to own.
Ask yourself the same question with Bezos and Amazon (though Bezos isn’t nearly as batshit crazy)
Don’t worry, Musk will never touch your Tesla, you won’t get any cooties. They’re built by regular good ol’ Americans, Germans and/or Chinese workers. No executives will be fondling your [car] parts
There are plenty of great EVs that aren’t Tesla. Drive a few and pick one. This will get you started. https://www.edmunds.com/electric-car/
I hate Musk but love my Teslas. Hope he’s out of there by the time we go car shopping again but I’m still buying more Teslas.
American built with amazing tech/software at the cheapest price plus I don’t have to deal with dealerships.
Also feels like most of the other manufacturers find ways NOT to sell electric vehicles and I’d rather not support them building more ICE pickups.
I’m sure you’ve brought stuff from Xi’s communist China. Suddenly you’re worried about Musk’s twitter account?
I’ve struggled with this as well and I’ve seen plenty of people also comment, as some here already have, something to the effect of, “You’ve probably bought X from people that think or do horrible things and you just don’t know about it so what’s the big deal?” That’s very likely true but that’s not a logical justification for ignoring the bad actions you do know about just because you don’t know, or can’t possibly know, everything about everyone you buy from.
You make the changes you can knowing you have imperfect information.
The difference is knowing. Once you know someone is not ethical or doing good things, you shouldn’t support them. In many cases we are ignorant about the ethics of company leadership so there is some plausible deniability. In the case of musk, we know and we shouldn’t support him.
However, I really don’t like Musk. I’m sure the other auto maker owners/ heads are deuche bags as well but at least they aren’t vocal about it.
As a Tesla owner I absolutely agree. I really like my cars but at this point Tesla would be better off with someone else as full time CEO.
I’ll never buy a Tesla, and mainly because of the same reasons. Luckily for us, there are many very good EVs available from other manufacturers, and more being made every day. Research other brands!
You just said “ Decent services” Pay attention to customer service After my opinion hearing from my coworkers TESLA is one of the worst companies!! Go and check the reviews and let me know, please!! All the best👍
What do you think about Henry Ford?
Elon Musk just announced he will be giving all X advertising income to Israeli hospitals and for Palestinian medical supplies.
Which other automotive CEO is doing half as much?
Instead of getting on the virtue signalling train pushed by corrupted media organizations it’s best to judge people by their actual actions.
Which other automotive CEO is doing half as much?
Which other automotive CEO is in damage control mode due to tweeting antisemitic shit? Oh right, none of them
Also what advertising income LMAO
Why not ask your wife what EV she wants if it’s gonna be her car to drive?..
Nah fuck that, doesnt fit in with my moral compass
You’re right, other CEOs are often no better. Personally, I don’t let anyone judge me on it - everyone uses products with something objectionable about its making .
I know it doesn’t solve the cancel culture situation but if we were all purists about who is behind a product, 90% of products would be off limits.
And if you’re a purist about one thing but not consistent about it, not only are you not a purist but you’re also a hypocrite.
Of course this is mostly lip service and people just buy the best product assuming the CEO isn’t literally Hitler.
Putting aside the political issues, I wouldn’t buy a car from a company that has a history of ignoring safety issues.
