I don’t mind that. What I do hate is chargers that tell your battery percentage to others.
I hate that some people come knocking on windows or start yelling asking for me to go when I’m charging and go above 80%.
I don’t have a home charger and sometimes I need to get to 90% so I can get through the week. Or when I was on a road trip, I took longer naps and let the car get over 90%. And thank god I did because at one point, I went to a charging station and it was broken and I needed every spare mile to reach the next station.
I like how it is no longer at all less expensive to own an EV for the average person.
They’re doing a great job convincing people it’s a good idea… 😊Extremely cheap charging and extremely expensive idle fees is the winning ticket for public charging imo. Ideally charging should be very slightly more expensive than home charging.
Good idea with GM, Ford, Rivian et al about to get access to the Tesla chargers. We are going to need things to speed up charging cycles.
Though in Winter when its very cold and snowy roads, Tesla’s will have to charge to 100% to make it to the next charger so that extra 10% could be $20 surcharge.
If you get 3 miles per KWh, you would need 50 Kwh to get to the next charger or 60kwh to go a little more. So you are paying $25 already. So, what is this $1 will make a difference?
I charge about 2% of the time at a charger.
There’s no more stopping for gas the same way. You get a charger at home and cottage, if you have one.
There are far fewer non Teslas being scaled rn in North America than people realize. Legacy OEMs are dying, they’re also in a credit rating fraud right now just like the mortgages one. It’s preventing them from taking the losses required to scale EVs and to sell them at proper prices for how bad they are by comparison to a Tesla.
Just how it is. We have new iPhones and only Nokia as alternatives. And these phones come with supercomputers.
Makes sense. Almost no reason to go above 90 at a SC.
This is smart.
I’ve seen people charge up their (non-Tesla) car for 85% taking 30 minutes, but then taking another 30 minutes for the final 15%. Meanwhile someone else could be using that spot and be getting juice.
As someone who is traveling on Thursday for close to 300 miles, I like to hear this. I think it pretty much benefits everyone.
Does the terms say this is applicable for those with fusc as well?
i wonder if people still think every supercharger everywhere will be open to all cars with the tesla plug 24/7/365 with no extra costs or restrictions of any kind
Elon needs to recoup his Twitter advertising loses….
I got downvoted for suggesting this only a few days ago, but Tesla has just implemented a new $1/min congestion fee if you charge above 90% at certain locations when the Supercharger is busy. This should help improve throughput and reduce wait times at congested Superchargers. Charging past 90% is extremely slow, and in most cases it is faster overall to make a second charging stop.
Yes you got downvoted for proposing a way to gouge paying customers.
The person did nothing wrong. Tesla engineers just made a crappy design where charging gets very very slow above 90%

Your congestion fee is $1,140.00.
Meme’d
I wonder about all the rich Tesla owners that would still charge
And all the tik tok videos about it
I hopped into that downvote chain with my agreement!
90% is a better setting than 80%
But great timing on starting the discussion!
This is great, if you don’t want BZ4X or Leaf hogging the stalls pissing everyone off just because they pay per kWH.
…what? Everyone pays per kWh at Superchargers, outside of places where that’s illegal and Tesla charges everyone by the minute. How did you get in in your head that different cars pay for charging in different ways?
The key resistance to EVs is range anxiety and having problems charging for whatever reason will greatly slow EV acceptance.
In your view, is this an increase or a reduction of those problems?
Your post can be interpreted both ways.
