Depends on the design and how the vehicle is cared for. Under normal operation, keeping up with maintenance (mainly making sure it has decent oil), typically the turbo will last the life of the vehicle.

The same strength and torsional stiffness as a box can be achieved, it just won’t be quite as light. Again, more thickness is good from a rust perspective.

C channel frame is a very good thing. The box frame trucks were very rust prone.

If you want a truck that’s reliable long term, you want a frame you can wash out and doesn’t fill up with crud

That’s true. My head was about in the ceiling of my 97 f350. I have a foot of headroom in a new one. I’m not short either. I realize the old trucks are a little cramped for tall individuals, but today’s trucks are designed so someone that’s 6’-10" won’t need to make any modifications or compromises lol

While yes i agree that the japanese brands get put on a pedestal for misguided reasions, american small cars really are junk.

speed limiters have been default on heavy trucks forever. Even the old '95 freightliner we have on the farm is limited to around 65mph.

I honestly think its a great idea for towing. Very few trailer tires are rated for more than 55/65mph. You see a lot of accidents caused by tires issues, there’s just no reason to be towing a camper or boat at 80+mph and you see it all the time. It puts a lot of people in danger. a 65mph governor when you’re using trailer lights seems like its reasonable, no location tracking required.
