  • This is worth noting for anyone who hasn’t picked up the original, as like a lot of racing games with licensed cars, it has been delisted. It’s a real shame, as they no longer have the rights to pikes peak and don’t have any hill climbs - polyphony digital (gran turismo devs) have the rights, but haven’t even put it in the game.

This is similarly true for games like project cars 1 and 2, and some of the older F1 games. It’s a big issue with pc gaming in general, because at least on console you could try to find a disc, but piracy is your only option to access these games now on deck unless you previously owned them.

I will say that, other than slightly fuzzy text in menus, F1 23 runs amazing too - even night races in the rain.

  • Well they couldn’t possibly try and correct their massive error by delivering on a Saturday because Valve didn’t tick the Saturday delivery box, so their hands are clearly completely tied /s.

The main issue is, despite being “the customer” in this exchange, we are not ParcelForce’s customer, Valve is; so they feel essentially no obligation or care towards us. Meanwhile Valve doesn’t have to care as you have no option other than to order the device through them, and they don’t have to reimburse you as you technically didn’t pay for shipping (even though it’s absolutely included into the price of the unit). It’s basically just an example of the “free market” falling apart, as there is no true competition, so you just get shite service and have no recourse against them.

  • Mine showed up as ‘Received at delivery depot’ in London at 23:29 on the 23rd, then showed as ‘Received at incorrect delivery depot’ at 6:42 on the 24th at the exact same depot. Its finally showing as ‘On route to hub’, which never seemed to be attempted before.

I personally believe it’s just an excuse so that they could delay shipping until after the weekend - as despite this apparently being their error and them saying “We will forward it to the correct delivery depot and it will be delivered as soon as possible” ‘as soon as possible’ apparently doesn’t include Saturday’s simply because Valve didn’t choose that service. I saw no reports of this yesterday, but now there is an incentive to delay delivery, suddenly a large number of packages are being incorrectly sorted.

Either there is a major systemic issue with their sorting, or they are lying.

The biggest irony in all of this is that it seemed to be implied by support that Valve will actually get reimbursed for these delays, despite cheaping out on the delivery service, and we will get no compensation. Really leaves a bad taste.

  • I’m shocked people are passing this off as so normal. I have ordered several items after ordering the steamdeck through different sites and different couriers in preparation for the holidays, and all have arrived days ago - and absolutely every single one has fallen within the originally stated order estimates.

5 days for shipping is completely understandable, but to state that and not even come close to meeting it for seemingly the majority of orders, while providing no meaningful shipping updates. Then to still be listing these estimates while day 1 purchasers haven’t even had their items shipped is just purposefully misleading at this point. If support are telling people who complain “2-3 weeks” that should be on the listing.

I am also aware that the device is shipping from the Netherlands to me in the UK and will have to clear customs, but Valve are also aware of this and gave these same estimates - and as you said, others have received it, despite ordering later, with no transparency as to why; it’s a complete mess.
