The amount of hate on mullvad for what they openly acknowledged was a personal donation from someone who was a founder sure does seem like it’s astroturfing against an otherwise solid vpn provider with a better trackrecord and more transparency then most.

Seems like the Same sort of ppl who would pay for services with a bank card and then be shocked when that links them to an account.

What do these people want? Should Mullvad fire this person? On what grounds? Do people honestly think companies should have a say over what their employees or members spend their personal money on? That seems like a fascist attitude to me.

It’s also about driving engagement, a vibes based article about a poll will have a lot more engagement when its shared around social media. Sure you’d still have some people arguing and engaging regalardless, but a large and very vocal portion of the internet has been trained now to just ignore facts that don’t fit their narrative as being funded by George Soros or similar such non-sense, they see a title like “data driven research shows economic conditions worsening in key areas” they skip over it as boring and too complicated to understand, but if they see a title saying americans “feel” a certain way, then they as an american (or someone pretending to be american) can chime in about how they personally dont feel that way and anyone who does feel that way is lazy and stupid, and then it becomes a whole chain of people doing that and others citing factual data which then gets ignored.

I’m starting to think the intelligence of these AI bros is itself pretty artificial.

Just make sure you can relock the bootloader after you install the e/os ROM or anyone with a USB cable can do as they please with your phones OS. AFAIK that feature is limited to pixel phones and some fair phones, so your options are a bit slim.

Wifi HaLow is a bit closer to capable of early 00s internet speeds while reaching 1km, meshtastic and mescore reach 100x further and are good enough for text but not really capable of any media.

Dynamic pricing doesn’t mean individualized pricing per person, it just means deciding to set higher prices in the locations in poor parts of town, setting prices for things like meat and fresh produce at the start of the day or week, the frequency really doesn’t matter you could set prices hourly if you wanted to dedicate an employee or 2 to it.

This kind of stuff is inevitable with capitalism, in their continuing effort to make human workers obsolete and save money it makes perfect sense to replace static paper displays with digital ones. I would assume the only reason they didn’t do it any soon is the up front costs.

Dynamic pricing is of course a real concern, but its not like you can’t do dynamic pricing with paper labels, it just takes more effort (and so the prices will probably reflect that as they change). I’m surprised this wasn’t already the case, how did patreon get an exception in the first place? I don’t know anything about how apple billing with patreon works but the way this sounds is that patreon’s “Legacy Billing” somehow allows creators to get around the 30% fee that is normally standard to anything on apple, and the means to enable/disable this feature is entirely in the hands of individual creators rather than patreon or apple, weird.
