definitely would try a heatgun and some manual manipulation. I believe the back of that indented section is hollow, so should be easy enough to work with some wider piece of metal a bit at a time.

depends on what it DOESN’T cover… in any case, for that engine/age/mileage, I personally wouldn’t bother, it should be pretty reliable/safe as is.
Unless of course its got signs of being abused by some wannabe racer… in which case though I’d just plain walk away period.
it’s probably good that you didn’t test out an X6M, otherwise you’d have “settled” for a lightly used X6M before buying a new X4 ;)
I’d double down and get a Merc GLE 63S Coupe, cuz BMW has been huffing way too much of their own fumes lately.
I leave it off.
The preaching has always been that starting/stopping the engine is what is most stressfull on the whole system/components. While I’d wager that perhaps that is not AS bad as it used to be, I would also bet that it still IS one of the worst things.
The intent of the feature is not to help YOU the consumer, its to at best, help the environment, and as a side bonus, accelerate the wear of components so they fail sooner after warranty expires.
As such, the feature can go F itself.
Although I do agree that there’s no reason to idle an engine while waiting for a dozen minutes at a parking lot, other than perhaps it being below 0 outside…
also unpopular opinion: all porsche stuff has always looked old and dated to me.
i know bmw went overboard with the newer styling, but at least they’re trying. porsche just keeps milking the same ancient cow over and over and over.
I wouldn’t touch it personally. Even if it was as simple as “can’t afford the payments” guaranteed they abused it before letting it go…
