When driving in city/commute. Are you using the start/stop for the engine to stall when you are stopping or you always disable it. Some mechanics are telling me it could cause problems to leave it enabled.

Turning the motor “ON” and “OFF” definitely puts a lot of load on ur battery, starter, engine mounts etc. anyway personally i just fucking hate it,so I’ve never enabled it.

Turned it off with bimmercode so it’s never on.

It’s shit in then 140. Only car I’ve driven where it wasn’t shit was a Rav4 where you could choose whether to stop/start or not by pressing the brake harder.

I turn it off in winter, otherwise it slows down the engine reaching its operating temperature, and heating up the cabin. I have a commute that has a lot of stop and go traffic on the way.

I didn’t used to use it at all but I haven’t coded it out on my current car. The mild hybrid setup makes it way less intrusive because the car starts to move the moment I release the brake, there’s no delay like there was in my F31.

Honestly the start stop system only ever makes sense on a mild hybrid. Gas engines take a second to turn on, so its pretty pointless if taking the foot off the pedal took a second or two to react.

I used bimmercode to permanently disable it by default within like a month of getting my car

Nope, my iX1 doesn’t have it. Just one of the endless advantages of electric vehicles

turn that garbage off. people argue that its fine for the components, and they might be right to an extent. The technology manufactures put into cars with auto start/stop might more durable but regardless you’re implementing more wear and tear than is actually necessary during your commute. Unless your a die hard environmentalist its not worth it. Its not there to save you gas, its there to reduce emissions.

I have a sport individual setting that I use for daily driving. I set the steering and transmission to comfort, while having the engine in sport. This also disables ASS for me.

Yes but that’s just because my car is a hybrid. It’s my first car so I’ve never even driven a car with start/stop besides an Amarok at work once.

It worked fine when it was activated but that was only a once or twice—it’s just too cold during winter and it turns the function off.

Disabled and coded out. The first time it happened I got so scared and then so angry. Why does my manual car have an auto start stop, would rather a remote start.

I like it in theory, but in practice the engine takes a full second or two to stabilize RPMs.

So in the manual the result is you either start to load the engine at really low RPMs when taking off right away from a dead stop- or you end up giving it more gas than necessary. In the end you get inconsistent first-gear starts and also probably bog the engine.

    I disabled it.

I also don’t like that it can be inconsistent. On the rare occasion I turn it on, let’s say in a drive-through, it wont even turn off the engine half the time- either because the wheels are turned (steering pump), the AC (compressor) is on or some other mysterious reason.

Bootmod3 tune, deleted that feature month 1 of ownership and never looked back. It might have been in bimmercode now that I think about it…. Either way, you don’t need it.
