Arteta should just take the L on his Havertz-midfield experiment and move him up-front as a back-up to Jesus and use the money that we are ALLEGEDLY planning to spent on a striker and buy a good midfielder who is actually a midfielder.
The thing is the par for Havertz is so low that even basic contributions are hailed as exceptional, no he wasn’t the main/direct reason we lost yesterday but he is still big part of the problem of why we are performing poorly.
Glad to see us fully in control of the game but i think we should try shooting from outside of the box when teams are setting deep, it doesn’t need to be dangerous shots but rather to keep the opponent team under pressure and on alert, I feel like the way we’re passing it around without any threat gives the other teams more confidence and assurance.
If this was a PL match we would’ve seen Ramsdale a few times during the game yesterday
Ramsdale was dropped even though was playing good and didn’t made any mistakes, this is the third match in a row where Raya has been sus (Lens, City and Chelsea), if Arteta really means it when he’s saying that it’s a competition between the two then he really needs to prove it, if Raya starts next game then Arteta proves that he’s waffling and just needs to admit that Raya is our number 1.
Personally i don’t mind Raya becoming the main keeper, he definitely wasn’t the main issue in our performance yesterday and in our lack of fluidity this season but Arteta really created this issue out of nothing by saying that it’s a competition between the two.
We really needs to ahoot more when teams are settling deep, even if there’s a small chance it goes in but like it helps keeping the defending team on their toes, i feel like passing the ball around only makes us more desperate and gives the opposition team a sense of safety and control but when try to shoot more it adds a chaotic element to which is needed to win these sort of fames, plus it helps encouraging our fans and silencing theirs.
