I completely agree. It amazes me that regular sedan limos are still a thing. If you’re going to be driven in luxury it should be in party bus or a super decked out luxury sprinter van.

What are servicing? Tires? Maybe an occasional brake pad? Of the few EVs around few have maintenance issues and there are plenty of tire shops already.

I am blown away by people who want to buy a car by its NYC to LA performance numbers. If you’re gonna drive across the country you rent a Van. No sedan, SUV is a comfy as a fully loaded Odyssey or a loaded AWD Sienna. But do you really want to drive a van 24/7? I wouldn’t mind but many people don’t want minivans.

I’m Confused. You are operating as if the salesman will be honest with you. I was under the impression we all know they will say anything to close a deal. We are supposed to do our own research on what cars should cost what with x and y features and look for those to purchase. This is what I’ve always done.

You know what would be badass? HD inflated nose cone and rear end. Inflated when traveling on open roads and improves drag coefficient. Not sure if this is practical but semis do have a metal oragami thing that is at the back of the trailer.

I’ve only visited NYC 3 times. However I used to work at UCSF im San Francisco. As an employee is costs me $36 to park for 1 day. That was in 2008 and was for 1 analog parking spot. Fast forward 15 years later in a city that is many times larger you expect to be able to park a car and charge it cheaply. That may not exists for obvious reasons but I suspect if it did it would be taken by people parking and not needing to charge just to take advantage of the availability of parking in a place like New York City. Something something capitalism supply and demand.

But perhaps OP isn’t being specific. Maybe he means he can’t find a free 800kw DC fast charger that is available to him the moment he needs it. That could certainly be a tall order.

If this was economically feasible people would do it. It’s waaaay easier formPower plants to add a bazillion watts of capacity in normal places. What you’re describing does exist and has been done on remote areas, but those areas lack demand to do this often. With the exception of extreme weather events like heat waves there is plenty of capacity. And what you’re describing would not be economically feasible if you’re just trying to cover the exceptions.

Don’t fall for the propaganda. There is plenty of power, we are not running out. As more grid scale batteries come online and we change from a generate the exact amount we can use model this problem will be alleviated in the near future.
