Fair enough. Appreciate the response.

801 higher for a stadium where you would expect it to be the same. That’s quite a big difference.
I didn’t mean any offence, literally just wondering why there’s an 800 bigger difference than you would expect.
Can someone explain why Inter Milans is much higher than AC Milans? Wouldn’t have thought selling the same number of tickets would result in that much of an average attendance swing.
I was thinking about this for awhile, and was wondering if anyone else felt that people are hesitant to award Premier League players with the credit they deserve?
Maybe.
Like your Henry example, how did Beckham not win it for the treble winning season?
Am I crazy or was Haaland not winning the Ballon D’or really disrespectful towards the Premier League?
He set the goals record, and won the treble.
Yes it was. They put too much weight on an international competition.
I just don’t take it seriously. It’s a popularity contest or whatever, not actually who was the best player. They gave it to Messi because it’s Messi and he won the WC, not because he was the best player in the year.
Let’s pick the hypothetical scenario where City don’t get charged.
What do you think fans do? Do you think they can do anything?
The optimist in me thinks this is them setting a precedent, and hopefully the Chelsea one too.
The pessimist (probably realist) in me thinks they will just be inconsistent and let city get away with 115x the amount of crimes as Everton.
If they have previous punishments to point to in the city case then they can enact a severe punishment.
I do agree that it should, but also with the laws in the UK broadcasters just aren’t going to take the risk, and I understand that.
If it wasn’t, we would have been hit with a points deduction.
The case in ongoing, so no, you wouldn’t have.
Notice how all of your favorite pundits haven’t brought up those charges in a while. Probably because they know it’s all bs.
If we ignore the ridiculous ‘favourite’ part.
They brought it up when it first happened. Nothing of note has happened yet, so why would they keep bringing it up?
And in the UK people tread carefully around things that are alleged because they don’t want to get in trouble. You have to say alleged, but usually people just steer clear of it. So what exactly do you expect them to keep saying? Talking about it just opens them up to issues. Why not wait until a result?
It’s crazy that instead of thinking why people might not go on live TV in the UK and talk about alleged things all the time when there’s been no updates about it, you just assume it’s because it’s bullshit.
I just think this is so simple. You don’t need sin bins.
Allow only the captain to approach the ref and anyone else who does so gets a yellow. You stick to that the first gameweek and it instantly stops it. Done. Problem literally sorted straight away.
Have them release a statement before the weekend that says these players will receive yellows and they fully back the refs to do so, making it clear to everyone so there’s no complaints and taking some pressure off of the refs.
If you don’t limit it to captains then the issue becomes what does a ref deem dissent Vs normal behaviour, and that’s caused the shitshow we are in now.
There’s just no need to complicate things and I don’t know why they haven’t sorted it yet.
I’m English, but I still have some input that I don’t see talked about.
Having international breaks so frequently actually lowers the standard of both the national teams and the club teams.
Everyone should care about this, but a lot don’t actually know about it.
And then more common ones:
It’s also annoying as a fan because the quality of international football isn’t great. Depending on what league you watch this might be different.
And one that’s more personal for me is I don’t really care about nations.
€95m, which is roughly £83m. Quite a bit less than £100m and even better value!
with Arsenal immediately after the match, when the injustices re the decisions hadn’t actually been highlighted yet?
During the match everyone was talking about how shit the decisions were. In the after match thread, before the comments from Arteta, everyone was talking about how shit the decisions were…
What were you ‘agreeing’ with exactly?
Agreeing with the fans who were saying it was unfair. Agreeing with the players who obviously thought it was the wrong decision. Taking their side. Thinking they were on the end of a bad call.
You are going for a gotcha on a technicality or slightly wrong wording used instead of discussing the point in good faith. You clearly know what was meant. Stop being disingenuous.
If you ‘agreed’ with Arsenal, neither the rant nor the statement should have changed your stance on that as the ‘rant’ essentially said they were the wrong decisions, and the statement was released to back the manager.
I agree with Arsenal regarding the decisions being wrong, as does almost everyone. No one changed their opinion on that, so I’m not sure why you are trying to claim that they did.
I disagree with Arteta having a meltdown and I disagree with arsenal putting out a statement, and I disagree with Arteta changing his tune. As do the majority seemingly.
None of this changes the fact that the decisions were wrong. And no one turned around and changed their mind about the decisions once arsenal and Arteta made fools of themselves. That’s just made up by people wanting to be a victim.
The ‘hypocrisy’ you’re talking about came from an out of context quote
That’s why I said believed hypocrisy. Because it was a while until the full quote came out. But even with the full quote you can argue that he isn’t exactly being consistent.
You don’t think it’s too much of a coincidence that an out of context quote began circulating the media immediately after, at the same time talking heads from the same broadcast company released identical statements?
It’s for clicks and money, like it always is. Again, nothing to do with arsenal specifically. Quotes and other things are taken out of context all the time for headlines and talking points. It probably happens more than in context stuff.
Man Utd are talked about and have articles written about them far more than any other team, and it’s always ignoring important context. Unfortunately that’s just the way it is. It isn’t a coincidence though.
These guys went to a great length to criticize arteta
The criticism I saw was related to: his meltdown, the arsenal club statement, and the believed hypocrisy from what Arteta had said before when it happened to Liverpool.
But when Manchester United got decisions against them, they are suddenly against var and referees?
No, it’s just a different situation.
Ten Hag didn’t have a meltdown. Man Utd haven’t released a statement. And ten hag didn’t say the opposite when it happened to Liverpool.
You need to actually look at the context here. They are different situations which is why they are viewed differently.
They didn’t care about it when it happened to rivals.
They did though. Almost every single person agreed with arsenal. But then Arteta went and had a meltdown, viewed as a hypocrite, and the club released a statement so people just focused on how much of a joke that was. If they hadn’t done that everyone would have supported them, because it was almost unanimously agreed to be wrong decisions.
And even after they did all that, whenever discussions were actually about the decisions almost everyone was on Arsenals side.
This post just feels like you’ve convinced yourself that arsenal are victims and you are trying to fit everything into that view rather than looking at what’s happening.
While this is possible, we can’t make this conclusion. There’s other factors at play. For example, I’m pretty sure they haven’t won since Estupinan got injured.
Usually a consistent back line helps a team, but we can’t say this is obviously hampering them.
I think it’s because that was initially what was thought, Arteta’s quotes early on, people overrating Ramsdale so it’s newsworthy, Arsenal being a bigger club with more fans, Ramsdale in the England team.
