These guys went to a great length to criticize arteta and protect PGMol. But when Manchester United got decisions against them, they are suddenly against var and referees? And United got robbed somehow? Where was that energy with arteta?

This is why Var and referees won’t improve that much. They didn’t care about it when it happened to rivals. But once it happened to them, suddenly the world is against them.

Did Ten Hag have a complete meltdown? Have Man United released an official statement saying the ref was mean to them 🥺

    There’s the difference

The amount of slander arteta gets is mental. Worked out its mostly from triggered opp fans staring at their own management failures.

The worst thing is, watched that game of United and the ref was pretty good… the red was very similar to the one Liverpool got, he should be responsible for his body and if his leg hurts someone, its his fault, intentional or not… so if we wanted consistent refereeing, we got it right there.

Those penalties were very similar (with the difference being, Kobenhagen player had less than 0.2s to react when the header went off few centimeters away from his hand, but still, he should not have it there, so its fair call… the one United got against them were 2 hands and ref could basically choose which one he calls, both would stand, but Maguire was more obvious.

What are they bitching about exactly? Or is there something else I did not see?

He should be responsible for his body

Yes, and that’s true for other players too. If you dive into a 50/50 challenge at shin height with your head, it’s not a red card for the other player.

Rashford was stepping to his side, perfectly within his right with where he had possession of the ball. If the Copenhagen player puts his foot or leg under that step, that’s on them.

Never a red for me and its baffling to me how many people say it is.

So if I decide to do sliding tackle and you see me going, as you are responsible for your body, its your fault for not jumping over?

A slide tackle is inherently dangerous. Taking a side step is not. If you can’t tell the difference then I can’t engage in a bad faith discussion where we play hypothetical.

It’s funny because I would say “everyone” as well because it feels like such an overwhelming majority, but in actuality it is exclusively the stupid fans who think this. Anyone with the spare brain cells to rub together can see when the right call is made regardless of whether it favours their team or goes against them.

I’ll tell you what really pisses me off, the fake football fans who think that it’s good if Arsenal lose to a bad VAR decision, but hate it when United do and vice versa.

It’s terrible for Manchester United if Arsenal lose to a terrible VAR/Refereeing decision, and it’s terrible for Arsenal when Manchester United do. Because if it’s bad for football it’s bad for all of us.

Some people are so self centered and wrapped up in their woe is me, tribal bullshit.

I agree, last night I was near the what’s there point phase, because at the end of the day, it’s just ruining the game, no red card last night, get some decent football in, it’s no wonder players are not performing if they get screwed every week. Jobs are on the line, prize money, and it’s being dictated by VAR, every game in Europe is important due to co-efficients and therefore the number of teams that qualify to boot

I was there on Saturday, past the what’s the point phase after Newcastle scored, didn’t even wait for them to give the goal

The shitty referring standards affects all of us, all teams, and the fact managers get punished for speaking about it, and that sky HAVE to back the PGMOL because “remember who pays your wages” football is not in a good spot in this country

Week in week out someone gets screwed and it’s not right

Literally. People were so onto Arteta for some out of context statement he said after the Liverpool Tottenham game. But managers shouldn’t be expected to give sympathy for other clubs. A blanket statement about the refs performances for all clubs is something for the pundits, not the managers.

Arteta was asked about it at the post match from their following match (after Liverpool vs Spurs, so it was after Lens vs Arsenal)

Asked if he has sympathy for Liverpool, Arteta replied: “For sure, you know at the end you want to get what you deserve. You want to minimise errors that you cannot control away from the work and the job that you do on a daily basis.”

Sounds pretty supportive to me. I’m not sure why the media are trying to twist some later quote

What’s worse is that tons of pundits have fallen for it. I’ve seen multiple people like Alan shearer and the bloke who does analysis on ref calls criticise Arteta for being hypocritical. You’d think they’d have done more research, but I think that says a lot about our current quality of punditry…

Jesus Christ Arsenal you lost a game 1 0 after a controversial but not obviously incorrect decision. You’re not the first team this has happened to and with or without VAR you won’t be the last. Get over it.

I mean the pundits that are not defending Manchester United as well and saying that they did it summer right and some wrong. Pundits literally say these things to create reactions because it gives them attention and attention gives them traction and followers, and so forth, and so on.

“They didn’t care about it when it happened to rivals. But once it happened to them, suddenly the world is against them.”

Are you talking about United or Arsenal here? Applies to Arsenal just as much as United.
