Dude asks for a SUV with V8 for 40k, and you recommend him an I6 wagon for 5-10k.
lol.

The VAG 4.2TDi is bulletproof engine.
And all the shady car traders use Touaregs to tow.
I love when people disagree with me, and then prove me right.
“No they shouldn’t work for free. But when I’m there I should receive free shit.”
Btw, what do you consider “overpriced” oil change?

You would be surprised how many people manage to fuck up cabin filter change.
Either way, people on this sub think shops should operate as charities, repair your shit for free and ideally even pay you for the privilige to work on your cark.

Maybe you could if you were willing to pay them.
People around here are complaining about $100 for oil change being too much. Unevitably, shit like this happens when the “techs” are forced to hurry multiple cars per hour just to earn minimal wage.
Oil change should be at least $150-200 if you want quality, mistake-free service.
What would I do if I cared about fuel economy? I would not drive a truck in the first time.
12mpg seems to be the on lower side of reported real mpg by the users. So the first thing you should check if your driving patterns didn’t change. On my WJ, I could do the same trip with 11 and 17 mpg, just changing the driving style. That’s how big V8’s work.
You can test it by trying to make an economy run (slow acceleration, no braking, minimal hills), and see, if you can get close to mpg declared by factory. If you do, the car is fine.
In the 6 years of my experience, over 12000 cars went through our shop.
Not a single thermostat stuck closed.
AdBlue means expensive problems, the few extra hp isn’t worth it. If Touaregs don’t have it, all the more reason to go for one.
