Hello I’m looking to buy a VAG or JLR suv with a V8 Diesel to tow and for some fun. Budget: 40.000€ Max. Age: 2015 Country to buy in: Germany

The main question is, which engine is the best/most durable from your experience? And what are common problems you’ve encountered?

Cars in question are: Cayenne/Touareg 4.2 TDI Audi SQ7 4.0 TDI Range Rover Vogue L405 4.4 TDV8

Would be nice if the engine holds up to at least 250.000km

The VAG 4.2TDi is bulletproof engine.

And all the shady car traders use Touaregs to tow.

Do you know if it’s better in the Cayenne, as it not only got more power but also AdBlue. For some reason the Touareg doesn’t have that.

AdBlue means expensive problems, the few extra hp isn’t worth it. If Touaregs don’t have it, all the more reason to go for one.

If you plan on towing regularly with either vehicle, forget it will make that far without needing a transmission swap.

Look for a BMW E61 with the M57 engine. Far more reliable than those things, easier to live with and has an amazing amount of space inside. Yes, it’s an I6 but does it really matter? One of the best passenger car diesel in the post-classic Mercedes world.

Dude asks for a SUV with V8 for 40k, and you recommend him an I6 wagon for 5-10k.

      lol.
