Hi everyone, this is my first time owning a car. It’s a 2020 Honda civic. I had the « service » light turn on so I took it in to my local Honda service center. These are the issues they flagged and the estimated cost for each. Are these prices fair? Or are these things I can easily/safely learn to do on my own? (Ignore the wiper insert replacement, I can definitely do that on my own)

Thank you in advance!

To answer your question, yes these prices are fair and are being recommended responsibly.

These services are the absolute basic in maintenance and pretty much anyone with half a brain cell can perform. An afternoon with YouTube and a little elbow grease will save you hundreds and/or thousands over the life of your vehicle.

Please ignore the people saying this is a rip off. It’s not.

You would be surprised how many people manage to fuck up cabin filter change.

Either way, people on this sub think shops should operate as charities, repair your shit for free and ideally even pay you for the privilige to work on your cark.

No one is saying they should operate as a charity. There is a difference however if I bought a new car from the dealer and you’re charging these rates… if I’m already in for an overpriced oil change… etc.

If I were in only for the wiper change, or only in four the filter change then yes the price is fair. But they’re only nickel and diming the customer

I love when people disagree with me, and then prove me right.

“No they shouldn’t work for free. But when I’m there I should receive free shit.”

Btw, what do you consider “overpriced” oil change?
