  • This device on the other hand has support for as long as you backport the new kernel yourself.

Open Source doesnt mean a lot, until there are enough interested devs (or you) to do the work.

Just ask how many pinephones are used for more then “interesting test phone you pull out of the drawer once a quarter”.

I’m an iphone hater, but I assume the environmental aspect of this is worse then an Ipad you use for 5+ years. (On average, per total time used, YMMV)

  • Imo if the worker is payed so well thet tipping is unusual, that should be the norm. Then when I have a reason, my kid puked on the table and the waiter cleaned it up or whatever and I feel like giving them 20, that should be tax free. As long as tips are a significant part of income it should be taxed. Not taxing tips doesn’t fix the problem that workers are not payed enough.

  • Encrypted “archives” like zip or similar will not be crackable by quantum computers. They use (if strongly encrypted) a well known stream cypher like AES. Those are not severely impacted by QC.

Only asymmetric crypto like RSA or ECDSA (elliptic curve) are easily cracked by a powerfull QC. These are used in communications like https.

Internet cummunication is fucked with qc. Stuff encrypted with a strong password is not.

  • Imo the most important thing is the separation of what you do. If you’re logged in on facebook, you can do that from your public ip. Anything you’re not associated with your name you want to use a diffferent browser identity and maybe a different ip.

If you use Torrents or do anything illegal or whistleblowing or similar stuff, use a live linux iso with no persistence and a vpn bought with monero.
