Don’t know why you’re being downvoted. I’m also sticking with my LCD day one deck, it’s as amazing as it always was. The seeming elitism amongst those who bought an OLED deck is lame, saying the LCD deck is the worst screen they’ve ever seen, bogus. It’s so overhyped. Say what you will, but I’ve never had to RMA my deck for any issues.

It’s just the entitlement mentality of those downvoting. They don’t like to hear that they don’t get to shift the blame and responsibility for their problems onto others. It’s the “it’s somebody else’s fault!” mantra. In this case, it’s the fault of the thief, but not Valve or the shipper. But they still feel entitled and expect Valve to just send them another one for free. Why? Valve fulfilled their end. We have delivery options as consumers to have packages held at their store to prevent things like this. People don’t use them for whatever reason, well then accept the risk of having packages left on your porch unattended.

Apparently you got an F in reading comprehension. That’s not what I said. I even specifically said in my post “I’m not saying that doesn’t happen.” You are talking about an extremely rare worst case scenario as if it’s a common occurrence and it’s not. I’ve been buying and selling on ebay since 2000 and have done well over 1,000 transactions in both directions, and the scenario you describe has literally never happened to me, for any dollar amount. You’re just fear mongering.

I’ve sold stuff worth over $1,000 to a zero feedback buyer. Sometimes people who are looking for a specific thing don’t use eBay, and they will create an account to buy it from you. It’s happened to me more than once. I’ve never been scammed in this manner. I’m not saying that doesn’t happen, but it’s exceedingly rare, and the odds are very much in your favor as a seller. All you’re doing with your method is severely limiting your pool of buyers, and extending the amount of time it takes to sell something.

To each their own and all, I just like having redundancy of hardware. Situations like you’re hanging out with friends or family and you want to play multi-player games, or you want to let your kid play some games, or you have to RMA your deck due to some issue, you’d have a backup to play while you wait for your new one. To me all of that is worth more than what I would save selling my OG deck to buy an OLED model.

Pretty sure there’s no recourse for porch piracy as far as expecting the shipping courier or shipper to be held responsible. They did what they were contracted to do, deliver your package. It is not their fault your home is an unsecure location. This is exactly why I have high value packages held at UPS or FedEx stores until I pick them up. I’d seriously consider it for future deliveries.

Man y’all are selling your used decks for like half what you paid, that’s insane. Why not just keep it and buy an OLED deck anyway? You can’t come up with the extra $275-$300 without taking a huge loss on the LCD deck?

What the hell does it matter? Buy what you want and let others buy what they want. I personally hope a million “limited edition” decks get sold, if that’s how many people want one. If you jumped on one hoping to be able to flip it for a menial profit because it sold out instantly, well that’s karma and you got what you deserve.
