I live in a gated building and have never had anything stolen before. I payed for my steam deck with a credit card. What will happen? What should I do?
Joke’s on them, now they got a bunch of dead pixels and more way to rma the unit
Call your parents and tell them
Or just contact the support?
File a police report and contact Steam Support.
File a police complaint. Actually you r out of luck. Does it have any video surveillance?
Reach out to the delivery if it’s UPS or FedEX if they have actually delivered the SD… Once in a while it might show up next day too.
Did the delivery guy take a picture of your deck by any chance?
If you didn’t sign for it, you aren’t on the hook for it in most cases.
So start with steam, if you have renters insurance you can work with them as well with a police report
Pretty sure there’s no recourse for porch piracy as far as expecting the shipping courier or shipper to be held responsible. They did what they were contracted to do, deliver your package. It is not their fault your home is an unsecure location. This is exactly why I have high value packages held at UPS or FedEx stores until I pick them up. I’d seriously consider it for future deliveries.
I don’t know why you got downvoted, but it’s the truth. If the shipper dropped off your package, and can verify (via photo), their responsibility ends. Like other people said, file a police report.
It’s just the entitlement mentality of those downvoting. They don’t like to hear that they don’t get to shift the blame and responsibility for their problems onto others. It’s the “it’s somebody else’s fault!” mantra. In this case, it’s the fault of the thief, but not Valve or the shipper. But they still feel entitled and expect Valve to just send them another one for free. Why? Valve fulfilled their end. We have delivery options as consumers to have packages held at their store to prevent things like this. People don’t use them for whatever reason, well then accept the risk of having packages left on your porch unattended.
There may be neighbours with cameras that may have captured who was on your porch.
Fortunately, paying by credit card usually offers more buyer protection. Contacting steam and the delivery company is the first step. And then when all else fails the bank.
A chargeback is a very easy way of getting a perma ban on your steam account.
