No, it doesn’t.
Just run the install wizard, put the roms in the rom directory, run Steam-rom-manager to add the games to the Steam interface and proceed to game in game mode.

For I’ve tested Spider-Man Remastered (it works) and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 - this one doesn’t work (the HDR option is greyed out in the menus and you can’t enable it).
Enjoy it.
I love my Steam Deck OLED, I really appreciate all the upgrades over the OG Steam Deck.
They all add up.
The absolutely gorgeous screen, improved battery life, a little bit better performance, lower weight (it’s not a huge difference on paper, but it is palpable - it improves the ergonomics), better haptics and trackpads, better sticks and buttons, really improved sound (it’s much more balanced and full - I love the sound signature) and probably some other upgrades I’m missing.
It all just comes in an amazing package.
Yeah, me too.
Too bad it’s so difficult to get your hands on a good CRT where I’m from.
Maybe one day…
In the meantime I’m enjoying my Steam Deck OLED - I love it, it’s a really nice upgrade and I don’t regret the purchase.
You should try connecting your Deck to the CRT.
1 TB Steam Deck OLED here (non-limited, the limited edition is not available in EU) - I got a Samsung display in mine.
I haven’t noticed any dead pixels or other defects on my screen
I think I’ll get the XGS Narrative Bundle (Pentiment, As Dusk Falls and Quantum Break) and the expansion DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 (Phantom Liberty).
Unsure whether I’ll get anything else - but probably not (I bought the 1 TB Deck OLED despite already owning the OG 512 version, so I’m quite strapped for cash atm).
You forgot about a third column, about all the users from outside of the USA and Canada, crying that they’re unable to get the limited edition Deck.
I’m one of them (I had to order the regular edition 1 TB model instead).
I got the OLED, and I absolutely love it, which says something, considering I already owned the OG 512 GB model, and it was not a responsible move financial-wise.
It’s just absolutely glorious.
I wouldn’t say everyone needs to upgrade to the new model, but I feel satisfied with my purchase.
So many meaningful upgrades - I’m happy.
If you already own the OG model, and you don’t feel the need to upgrade - I salute you. You have more self-control than me.
