Alright - I’m working through my own games … Let’s hear yours … working or not working!
If your game has HDR and you’ve tried it, please comment with whether it works or doesn’t work. No need to list games that don’t have HDR or if you don’t have an OLED :
Name | HDR Works? | Notes |
---|---|---|
Overwatch 2 | No | Says display isn’t compatible |
Pinball M (Demo) | Yes | |
Hogwart’s Legacy | Yes | |
Baldur’s Gate 3 | Yes |
For Sekiro I had to put in the launch command recommended by OP.
Cyberpunk looks amazing with HDR, works perfect. Forza Horizon 5 works perfect. Tiny Tina Wonderlands HDR works on Proton Experimental, but is questionable (too dark for my tastes, looked it up and it’s kinda of a common problem with the games implementation of HDR). Think the same with Doom Eternal, using Proton Experimental, looks good to me though. Overall, when the game implements HDR well, it’s incredible on the OLED Deck.
My luck with HDR with cyberpunk is really spotty. Trying both options just mutes the colors completely for me and I feel like it honestly looks better in SDR. Have I done something wrong settings wise or does it just look like that?
Seconding this. HDR10 PQ looks greyed out as hell and doesn’t seem like HDR at all, it is just a very washed out image. HDR10 scRGB on the other hand is completely oversaturated. What settings and calibration did you use /u/JustC4llMeBri?
Name HDR Works? Notes Resident Evil 2 (2019) Yes Diablo 4 Yes Blizzard Launcher Works:
Pinball FX
Crysis Remastered

Doesn’t work:
Control (thought this one was supposed to work?)
Pinball Arcade
NFS Unbound
Redout
Nex Machina
Hot Wheels Unleashed
Black Widow Recharged
Gravel
Star Wars: Squadrons

Grip, haven’t gotten it to work yet myself, look here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/396900/discussions/0/1652169858536175563/#c1644295067080498033
Mentioned files are here:
home/deck/.local/share/system/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/396900/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Grip/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/
These are Unreal Engine settings, so it might work for other Unreal-based games, or you could borrow well working settings from other Unreal games.
Mentioned settings might not be perfect for the Deck, I don’t know if the exact HDR standards the Deck is using can be found anywhere yet.
Hot Wheels: Unleashed definitely works for me in HDR. I did adjust some of the PQ settings but that’s it and you have to do the same with Spider-Man and Cyberpunk too.
I’m not really sure what exactly you mean by “doesn’t work”
For Control, it’s actually a mod made by one of the devs who added native HDR. Kind of a weird situation where a person who worked on the game made it but it’s not an official patch. Maybe that’s why you thought it should work. Don’t know if the mod can be installed on deck but here it is:
https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/2581-control-hdrultrawidedlssrt-patch/
is this for the vanilla control or applicable to ultimate edition?
That’s odd. It’s listed as HDR supported in Steam.
Great to know, thanks! I will try that.
Installed on my Deck. I see the HDR option in the game settings but unable to enable it.
For I’ve tested Spider-Man Remastered (it works) and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 - this one doesn’t work (the HDR option is greyed out in the menus and you can’t enable it).
Lego Star Wars. The skywalker saga works
Hitman WoA: works, but i dont see any difference No Man Skys: works
Are you sure it works in Hitman? For me it says HDR is on in the launcher but in game the HDR badge above the brightness slider isn’t showing up in the (…) menu. Plus the toggle for HDR in the grapics options is missing. On desktop the difference between HDR on and off is very noticiceable.
I tried the method described by u/NotARedShirt but it didn’t help, still no HDR in Hitman WOA. I think the game doesn’t recognize the display as HDR capable if HDR isn’t turned on before the game is launched. At least on Win 10 I always have to enable HDR manually beforehand. Any workaround?
That’s really bad. With HDR, the game would look really good on the deck.
I do own that one so let me try installing and investigating for myself.
Divinity Original Sin 2 is GORGEOUS
Does that mean it has HDR and it works?
Yes, I figured that was implied.
No problem … thanks! Hey, gotta ask … this IS Reddit after all… ;)
Sekiro: HDR works
Works: Elden Ring Diablo IV MHW Disco Elysium
Doesn’t work: Tetris Effect
Damn Tetris effect is a bummer
FF7 remake doesn’t work. Allows you to turn it on, but colors are awful
Are you getting the really gray washed out look? Try using Proton Experimental.
I haven’t tried that, I’ll give it a a shot and report back
Armored Core VI supports it
Has anyone tried HDR through moonlight?
Deep Rock Galactic works, looks amazing.
Devil May Cry 5 seems not to work. There’s no HDR option in the menu to confirm, but I can tell it’s not running HDR when I compare it running on my HDR TV through windows.
