The reliability system is based on a survey of consumer reports members.
CR has, according to its website, 6 million members, meaning its survey population is significantly smaller than random sample surveys of the general population of 330+ million.
So its results are a reflection of CR members opinions, not opinions of the general population, or a sample thereof.
If it is, its a terrible one.
