I’ve been using Connect for the last few days and so far really enjoy it. it’s still missing a few features but I really like the UI.

I hope not. I’m almost 50. But I’m not in the dating pool. I feel for anyone trying to date at our age. Better to be who you are though.

The first book has an overarching story, but it is the tales that the pilgrims tell each other that really stand out. They are basically like little novellas within the main narrative and can almost be taken as stand-alone. The two tales I mentioned (Priest and Scholar) were the two that really stood out to me, but they are all interesting. I re-read those two tales specifically every few years.

The overall universe that Simmons depicts in the story is also amazing. The second book (Fall of Hyperion) focuses more on the overall narrative but shows how the tales have some commonality. The key plot device behind the Priest’s tale also sets up the narrative for the sequel books (Endymion and Rise of Endymion).

The one I think about most often is Hyperion, by Dan Simmons. Specifically the Priest’s tale and the Scholar’s tale.

I use Brave. My most used extensions are:

• Awesome Screenshot - takes partial and full browser window screenshots. It can also record screens. It looks like they’ve added “ChatGPT” into the name for some reason.
• Bitwarden - password manager
• VisBug - allows you to view webpage styles and tinker with the layout of live webpages.
• Homey - a replacement for the default New Tab, which includes beautiful live wall papers and convenient access to bookmarks and other widgets.

It’s a known bug that will be fixed in an upcoming release. There are a few threads around that go into the details.

Knowing that Beehaw and Lemmy.ml were overloaded, I chose the next biggest one in my country at the time, which was Lemmy.one.

This is why I still cling to my trusty Samsung S10. Still has a headphone jack for my IEMs and a heart rate monitor.

Sadly, Reddit has likely won the short-term battle. But hopefully, this Blackout raises awareness of the need for alternatives. Whether it be Lemmy/Kbin, some up-and-coming site like Squabbles or Tildes, or something not yet created, the seeds of migration off Reddit have been planted. If Reddit has such apathy for its communities pre-IPO, just imagine how bad it will be post-IPO when they are dealing with Wallstreet directly.

I haven’t played either of these, but they sound very cool and have been on my wishlist for a while:

• Metaphobia - a FREE game on Steam. It’s a classic-style point-and-click adventure in the vein of Gabriel Knight.
• Shadows of Doubt - An immersive sandbox detective stealth game set in a fully simulated sci-fi noir city of crime and corruption. The world is procedurally generated and you can explore and take on cases freely. Discover, meet and tail individual citizens, each with their own name, job, apartment and daily routine, in unique, procedurally-generated cities. Each case has different culprits, clues and experiences for you to test your investigative skills.

I’m not sure if it is truly considered a pixel art game, but I still love Terraria.
